Pats trade happy today and it is making it me sad: Traded Late Round pick for Jerel Worthy

Bump because i made the thread first lol

Mods feel free to merge my thread into this one.

Not happy that it looks like Siliga and/or Chris Jones are going to miss significant time. And Worthy isn't a guarantee that he can pass a physical at this point.

Sorry didn't see your post. Mods feel free to merge my thread with this one.

BTW, I would have been first if I didn't try to come up with a witty title to my thread and find a Tweet to attach to it. :p

LoL no biggie, there prob secs apart anyways

To me it says that they don't want to be caught undermanned like they did last year. Wouldn't be surprised if there are more trades before the season starts.

While it may mean that Siligia/Jones are going to be significant recovery times, it also means that we're not going to settle for guys like Joe Vellano to definitely take their place either. I'm glad to see the added competition, myself. I expect another DL to be signed in a couple of weeks when more cuts are being made.

Exactly, although not as sure about the trades. I think we'll see a guy or 2 added through camp casualties once rosters start to become trimmed.

One of the alleged top 5 DTs coming out of college in 2012. Torn acl last year. Back injury this year. Played in a 2 gap system last season and never caught on. Dominated in college in the 1 gap at Michigan st.

With Wilson, Worthy, and Bequette we have the best odds at a breakout performance by a 2012 draft pick...o_O

No I am glad that they aren't standing pat if they have lost either or both guys, but not happy either are gone.

But in fairness to Bill, he lost Vince and Kelly 4 and 5 games into the season and not in preseason. A lot harder to replace two starters at one position in season. But then again, he did go into the season razor thin depth wise at the position.

The thing is Worthy struggled with the two gap in Green Bay. If the Pats stay in the two gap this year, he is likely to struggle. If the Pats' defense philosophy switch comes with a switch to an one gap scheme that allows Worthy to pin his ears back and rush the passer, he could be a major steal.

But then again, he may not even pass the physical tomorrow and the trade could be nullified.

A top 5 DT project in 2012. Torn acl last year, back injury this year. Hasn't practiced yet. No doubt this kid is a long shot. Reports are it's for a late round pick pending on whether or not he makes the roster.

Seems like he was drafted by the wrong type of team as well. Packers played a two gap system while Worthy dominated in a 1 gap at Michigan st.

Can't believe they got anything for Green, if that DE is indeed anything. Kelly and Wilfork aren't playing a lot for much longer, good stocking the pond moves.

If that Redskins game was a referendum on what happens if Fortson and the two Samoans are needed this is a big and deserved thumbs down.

Going to look again, but saw someplace we picked up the 51st pick?

EDIT: I guess he was the 51st pick, but i bet Green Bay didn't draft him with a bad back. Kind of stupid to worry about what pick he was when we don't even know if he can pass a physical.

Personally, I think it is a sign that they intend to use a 3-4 this season a lot more than most thought.

Doesn't scream 3-4. 6-2.3 308, 5.00 40.
One of the top college DT's when he came out. Then a bunch of injuries.

Give us your tired, your poor, your damaged masses yearning to breathe free.
