Postgame cuts - Exhibition Game 1 edition

I'd be way against cutting Boyce, at least this early. He seems to be our best KR unless one of the new guys prove something there. We've lacked a legit threat there for far too long

Forston. He injured Chris Jones by getting tossed to the turf and rolling up on his ankle. He is overmatched against backup O-linemen.

Ebner. He simply can't play defense. Will have to make the team as a core special teamer. I guess that is still possible.

Did I see Justin Jones on the cut list?

Was he THAT bad ?

Ouch

I'd jump on the Finch bandwagon, but I wonder if BB keeps him around just a little longer to make sure Game 1 wasn't an abhorration. I imagine he's on a very short leash, though.

Dan Roche and Sam Houston are my top two predictions.

Kline looked even worse in the preseason last year, then stepped in and played capably when needed when it counted. I don't know what to make of him at the moment, but I'd be surprised to see him get cut with all of the uncertainty on the interior of the line both this year and next.

I think Kline's play last year was judged very leniently because the bar of expectations was so low.

If he didn't let guys run right past him to tear of the limbs of Tom Brady that would be a victory based on the expectations.

"The world didn't end" isn't the same as stepping up and playing capably.

That said MANY OL just aren't ready to play when they first come into the league and still develop, so I'm not ready to give up on him, but wouldn't exactly stick his name tag on his locker with permanent glue.

If I'm not mistaken, Josh Kline has practice squad eligibility.

This is what I like about Kline:

--like most interior OL, he has some versatility, and we've seen him look okay on both sides

--he started in Mankins' spot on the LG side down in BAL this past December, and looked very good in my opinion. I'm not as sure that he was as effective on the RG side as he was on the left side, but it's possible that we noticed him more due to the re-shuffling of Mankins at LT, etc

I think he definitely makes the 53 man roster, although as ATippet56 suggested, the fact that he may be eligible for the PS may allow us to keep him anyway. I've got to be honest though, I kind of want to see him stay and continue to develop here, no matter what.
