With stats like this, who would not be on board the hype train!!

He only catches a TD every 4,000 receptions. That's pretty crappy.

Great story. Thanks. Good that they can keep him around at least 4 weeks then see where we are at with the WR by then. Whether he catches on here or with another team, I'm going to root for this kid.

Hey Livinginthepast - What's your deal? You "dislike" the idea of potentially trading Amendola, Boyce or Thompkins if Tyms shows maturity and skill? If you are going to dislike something, at least have the balls to say why..

i expect ammendola to be ir'd by week 4 so i hope they keep him around.

Never heard of ammendola before. Did we sign him? I know Danny amendola will be playing the whole season

This article is worth reading. This guy had a childhood that makes Rasheed Hageman's look like Leave it to Beaver and made himself a college scholarship player and pro prospect after only one year of high school football and two years at a community college with no football by pestering the Florida A&M staff until they made him a walk on.

Guys like this are often either totally messed up or incredibly driven to succeed, but being 6'3" with a 40 time around 4.4 doesn't hurt either.

We always have a WR and RB that flash a game or two in preseason and that's quite possible here. However, what else is preseason for (for me anyway) I love to see those guys come out of nowhere (binkies?) And this is the guy I'm rooting for.

Miami Dolphins' practice squad receiver Brian Tyms overcomes difficult childhood - Sun Sentinel - Oct 16 2012

It's kinda weird, I've seen different sources claim that his 40 time is 4.4 or 4.5, and that his height is anywhere from 6'1" to 6"3. All that I know is that last night he looked like a man among boys. He has size, he knows how to use it to create windows for the QB, he elevates to get the ball, he seems to have pretty good hands, and he was creating separation downfield.

He looked like a stud, but as always with the preseason we have to consider how much was him and how much was due to playing against fourth stringers for one of the worst secondaries in the NFL. Playing against future insurance salesmen surely helped, but he showed enough that I'm at least intrigued that he might be a real player. I doubt he'll make the roster, though making the roster as WR6--either by beating out Boyce or Dobson being PUPed--is a real possibility. Otherwise, I expect to see the Pats try to get him to the PS.

I agree with the earlier post about seeing Tyms get some reps with Brady and the ones to see how he plays with and against that level of competition. Last night he sure looked like he can play the game. Looking forward to seeing him play some more.

I pay zero attention to Dislikes, etc. Ignore 'em.

I know...

Jimmy G to Tyms. A Brady to Moss in the making :)

It definitely makes you realize how good the legitimate pro standouts are. If fringe roster guys can look like Pro Bowlers against the tier of guys that were *almost* good enough to make the NFL, and those guys look like Pro Bowlers against D1 college competition, it speaks volumes to how good actual Pro Bowlers are.

He would have to show a lot before I traded Amendola. I'm not sure Thompkins or Boyce would bring a return.

Tyms is actually in a good position being suspended. It gives the team a chance to see how things shake out.

I would be happy with 14 games. The entire season seems optimistic. He has played 50% of the games over the past 3 seasons. I like that Belichick sat him and Edelman last night. There is no reason to put those 2 in harms way.

here's some video's he posted. looks like good strength for WR, and he has size/measurables...

lets hope he can get some first team reps and shine

My hope he plays 16 but honestly we have no clue who will last all season. We all thought mayo, wilfork and Kelly would make it through the season and they couldn't last 5 games.

I'm so sick of the NFL's disciplinary policies. Here's Tyms getting a four week suspension for a procedural infraction while Ray Rice only gets two weeks for decking his girlfriend. Meanwhile, we're still waiting to see what they'll do to Jim Irsay. They better come down on him hard, and Dean Blandino as well.

I tweeted out RayClay and PWP's discovery about Tyms' suspension and my tweet gets then retweeted by beat writers. Further proof that this messageboard is the place to be!!!!

Won't happen though

I think we were Tyms central for a few minutes there.:D
