the biggest thing I did not like from tonight game was wilfork and Kelly got pushed a round and so did the starting OL as for mallet playing bad that's not a shock to me the only times he ever played ok in the preseason was when he was throwing to Edelman I think he will be cut before the season starts

Pray-tell who would be the #2 in that case? If Brady goes down do you REALLY want Garropolo to have the fate of the team on his shoulders this early on?

Starting OL really wasn't our full #1 group. At one point there was only 3 starters playing along it. The game started with our OL being Solder - Devey - Connolly - Kline - Vollmer.

As for Kelly and Wilfork, it will probably take a few games for them to get comfortable again. They are still good players, just need to regain confidence in their repaired injuries and shake off rust.

I don't think people are talking much about what is the biggest real problem of the team, in my view.

The O-Line was AWFUL, including and specially in the beginning of the game. And they were composed by Starters and/or imediate backups/contenders. Solder needs to take a step forward, the interior didn't seem to have improved since last year. Obviously, they weren't playing full-speed, without Mankins, etc but still, this is an area that needs to get better urgently

I certainly talked about it.

Coach "Goodge" had probably the worst night of anyone. The Ghost of Scar hovered over that stadium tonight.

"not talking much" is not equal to "not talking at all". In any case, the Mallet/Garoppollo discussion is way above in Patsfan's Trending Topics :p

Talib down already in the first preseason game...Manning had a 14 play drive for a score as the Denver whackjobs are going crazy screaming "Revenge!!!"...in a first preseason game. Denver is going crazy with penalties trying to stop Seattle...15 yard personal fouls, holds ,PI and John Fox going beserk on the sidelines...newsflash Fox...YOU BLEW IT YOU MORON!!! You went to the bowl and SHEE-AT the bed you goon.

Don't really agree. Kelly and Wilfork looked very good to me. They were getting quite a bit of push into the starters despite a few double teams, and no one rushed into them. The problem was on the edge contain in that initial drive, they did their jobs.

I definitely agree that Anderson was one of the big dissappointments of the game. He is supposed to be our number 4 lb and our safety valve in case of an injury. He missed at least one coverage assignment (which as a specialist is a no no), overpursued several times and was just pushed around in run coverage. Just a terrible game.

Having said that, Beaurhanaus was pretty bad as well (one or two ok plays, and a lot of bad ones) and White and Fleming were also pretty nonexistant.

I suspect the Pats pick up a few LBs after the final roster cutdowns. We are basically 3 allpro level players and a group of jags.

Didn't say they played bad. You could tell they hadn't played ball in 10+ months though. Both held their ground well and even had good push. Think Wilfork isn't 100% confident yet, but then again he was getting quite a few double teams. Hard to really tell with the small sample size of reps they had tonight. Once both guys get the rust off, think we will have a solid interior line again.

Preseason game "revenge" is soooo Denver too

Watched the first half before going to bed, very impressed by young Butler at LCB, he looks a keeper. Thought White did okay too, the blocking was appalling and he did well to get back to the LOS at times.

As long as there were no injuries, I'm a happy man this morning.

I agree, the OL did look bad, but doesn't our OL always look bad in pre season? At least that's how I usually see it.

I remember being scared ****less for Brady during the 2011 preseason. We went to the SB that year. We have to remember, everything is vanilla right now. We're not game planning against certain players, schemes etc.

As long as we don't get a QB hurt, I'm holding off on any criticism......For now

You're ****ting me??? Talib already went down?

Went down isn't the best wording. He did appear to injure his right shoulder or arm while making a tackle. I don't think it was too serious.

OK. That was awful. The O line couldn't block. The D line couldn't penetrate. The linebackers couldn't tackle. The backs couldn't hold on to the ball. And Mallett seemed to have no clue what was going on. I can shrug my shoulders about it all and say that the team has a long way to go, except for Mallett, who really was a disappointment.

Wow, reading the comments and reports I thought JAG was worse than Zac Robinson!

Anyone would think BB knew what he was doing ;)

Agree that biggest takeaway was the offensive line was terrible.

Doesn't matter if its JAG or Mallet, if Brady ain't playing we ain't winning a SB, let alone compete for one, so its a moot point.
I don't agree. You want a backup QB to be able to win a few games if your starter goes down for a few weeks to keep the team in the playoff race. That's what you want in your backup QB in my opinion. To have a backup that could win the SB is an extreme luxury.
