Don't know about everyone else but I was impressed from the first snap. The comfort level and quick release were in stark contrast to Mallett's awkwardness and consistently late delivery. imo he has the "it" quality you are always looking for in players, especially QB's, and if tonight is the real guage he belongs ahead of Mallett on the depth chart and a Mallett release becomes a real possibility, although i don't believe Belichick wants to do that.

On a side note Tyms looked exactly like what we are hoping to get from Dobson and could end up being a surprise to make the roster at WR while Dobsosn goes to PUP.

JGropp looked really good imo. Quick release, accurate and good decisions. He might pass Mallet even with limited reps hes had.

Tyms, get that man a roster spot or at least practice squad. Boyce should be shakin in his boots imo. I want to see what he can do with the #1's.

If Mallet doesn't smarten up and play a lot better in the next 3 games, he will be cut. JG was gonna make the team anyways.

By sitting Brady I feel like BB really put it out there for Mallet and is giving him all the chances in the world to show exactly what he's capable of.

BB's giving him the keys to the corvette, and saying you either SINK OR SWIM

Though it was against scrubs, Gropp showed some juevos out there. First ever NFL game he's ever attended, yet still showed nice poise and decisiveness. Needs to carry this over into practice so he can move up a spot on the depth chart for next preseason game.

JAG has a long way to go. Saying that he has the intangibles you like to see early in a QB. Tyms and himself the only bright spot tonight. On the other side Mallet has nothing to show. No touch, bad pocket presence, no smarts. But excited about JAG.

JAG? Is his middle initial A?

Two things:

1) Gropp had been worse than Mallet who was clearly Brady's backup until tonite's game.

2) Mallet looked incredible in his first pre-season game way back when--recall all those beautiful 30 yard hook-ups.

While I know his practices matter to Belichick I look at it as a fan and generally go on what I see on the field on gameday, and in this instance I saw a young QB who was able to immediately adapt to the speed of the game and look like an NFL caliber QB right out of the gate, and although I don't know how Mallett has really done in practice (mixed reviews) he has shown no ability to adapt to the speed of the NFL game and seems like he is always a step behind executing plays, and you can't give NFL defenses that time to react. On the other hand I was really impressed by how easily Gropp took to the speed of the NFL. It's not gameday against good defenses but he still seemed up to the challenge while Mallett clearly didn't.

Good news: Gropp looked really good and could be Brady's replacement

Bad news: Gropp won't see regular season playing time for another 3 years

Bad news: Mallet sucks and we're getting nothing in return for him

He gets rid of the ball fast and those long throws look effortless and nice tight spiral.

The kid has the tools

The thing that impressed me the most was Gropp's accuracy. On several long balls he was dropping the ball right into the WRs hands, in stride. (Except for the extra 2 pt. pass, that should have had more arc on it)

Looked like a gamer me. Lightning quick release, pocket presence, good decision maker, great touch, and great accuracy.

He looked great. Tough to read too much into preseason action, but based off tonight I'd rather trust my season to him than Mallett if Brady got hurt.

Hey maybe Pats have a few blowout wins this year and he sees some time.

yep. That's a policy i really want Belichick to change, when it's out of reach sit Brady and let the 2nd stringer close it out.

His accuracy was remarkable, except for the 2 point conversion. He was a tiny bit slow on the reads but nothing that experience won't close up. And most importantly, he didn't seem phased by the responsibility at all, which honestly surprised the cr@p out of me, given what we've been reading about his performance at practice.

He ran that 2 min with some confidence and good decisions. Liked it

He did also create time on the 3rd and goal, Boyce dropped it.

JAG may need a new name on here. He looked like he belonged on the field. Granted, first preseason game in the second half, but outside of throwing two feet over the smurf rb on the screen...I didn't really notice any mistakes. I also have a one month old who was grumpy as hell most the game, so my observations are pretty much meaningless.
