Darelle Revis >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a million kyle arringtons..

Yes, and as implied its not an absolute philosophy. The Patriots will pay for elite tier talent.

So if i'm reading the CBA correctly an extension could happen anytime this season?

Yes. And if he gets a raise, he can't get another one for a year.

Radio report:
"It is being reported that Robert Kraft consulted Red Sox President Larry Luchino prior to opening negotiations with the Revis camp."
I can see how this could be perceive at funny, but I don't like seeing Luchino mentioned in the same article as Kraft nevermind the same sentence.

Makes sense if true. Sherman, Peterson, and Haden have pretty much set the market for elite corners at $13-14M per year. The Pats may feel comfortable matching that on a backloaded contract with a lot of guarantees, provided that they think they cap will rise dramatically. If they can convince Revis to take $12M per year over the life of a long-term contract, it becomes basically a no-brainer, even if they have to guarantee a lot of it.

Revis is a hardworking, consistent veteran who's absolutely elite at a high-impact position. He's exactly the kind of guy who the Pats are willing to pay long-term, premium money for. If they can get him and McCourty extended this year, that'll give them another 1-2 years before they have to worry about Chandler Jones, so the core of the defense will be pretty much locked up.

Should I buy his Jersey yes or no?Odds this happens? 60/40 happens

They would be dumb not to.

How will this affect McCourt if any?

Even if all million Kyle Arrington's can play on the field at the same time and count as one player. Revis is boss.

Zeus....hilarity...there has to be a .wav rimshot we can dredge up for these stellar one liners...

Honestly, if there was no cap to worry about, Ive no doubt the Patriots would be the Red Socks of the NFL as far everyone's comparative payrolls are concerned.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Kraft has said numerous times that he probably wouldn't have bought the team if there was no salary cap.

Is it a fair summary to say that the first contract renegotiation can happen any time, and after that there's a one-year clock that prohibits changes unless they satisfy certain limiting rules?

That's why he said it.
