Lets hear your thoughts! :)

We're not allowed to say out loud

Honestly, what I'm expecting most is a return to championship football on the defensive side of the ball, with clutch like interceptions that seal our oppositions fate like back in the day.

I have a lot of faith in our offense to be the spectacle we've known it to be, so long as Gronk is healthy, but my biggest expectations are in championship defense.

I'm honestly expecting to see the defense return to being something we can be proud of in NE. I'm expecting to see a defense that will win maybe three or four games for the team this season. I'm expecting to see some of those exotic things we used to see. I'm expecting to see a defense that rises to the situation this season and makes the crucial play to end a drive when they absolutely must.

I expect football to be played at some point during the season.

But in all seriousness, I expect:

A top 10 D (assuming general health all around) in pts scored and yrds allowed.
A top 10 O (Assuming Gronk, either Edelmen or Amendola, and Dobson remain relatively healthy)
A 28-35 TD season for Brady.
A 11-5 record at worst.
A trip to the AFFCG at least.

Can it be what we're hoping for? All I am hoping for is a relatively healthy 2014 for the New England Patriots. That will take care of a lot.
Agree 100%, this team hobbled to the AFCCG with tons of injuries, IF they can stay healthy, they should have an even better season than last year.

A Lombardi.

For the first time since 18-1 the Patriots are fielding a Championship caliber team. They have been on that bubble and have milked it to AFCC games and a Super Bowl but this is the first team since they lost to the Giants to go 18-1 where they enter the season with roster as strong as this one is. They have their questions but should be top 5 scoring offense and defense and that's a balance that will be tough to match. Injuries will play a big role but if they get to the play-offs relatively healthy then they should be in great shape to win another Lombardi.

My expectations are mostly contingent upon health, but here are some:

  1. Brady to "bounce back" from what was not a bad season in the first place
  2. Edelman to have fewer catches
  3. Amendola to have more catches
  4. Thompkins to have more catches
  5. Gronk to have 70-80 catches
  6. Wendell to be beaten out at center
  7. A surprising amount of 3-4 defense
  8. A 5 man RB corps of Ridley, Vereen, White, Devlin and a battle for the 5th spot
  9. D.J. Williams not to make the team
  10. A return to the Super Bowl
  11. Easley to be considered a disappointment by many, because of his late start and bounce back time
  12. Bequette to be cut
  13. 13+ wins
  14. Interesting use of the Slot/Outside hybrid receivers (Edelman/LaFell/Amendola/Boyce (if he makes the team), varying their positions and roles more than we would normally see
  15. Top 5 scoring offense, top 5 scoring defense
  16. Top 5 total offense, top 10 total defense

Gawd, what a homer!

Good list. I'd add "Chung to not make the team"

I ask for health and the ability to watch a close game at the end where the enemy has the ball and I don't have to abandon all hope with our defense on the field. Get back to the championship era style of ripping their hearts out with a game ending big play.

"You're a big man"

"For you"

Thanks for all the responses. All great feedback, lets keep it coming. :)

Better health in 2014 and a trip to the SB. It would be nice to do 19-0 and win it where we almost did but the chances of that happening are closer to impossible then reality.

Most of these seem like decent expectations, I'd disagree with 7 and 13. With respect to expectation 13, it's tough to argue four teams won't beat us this year, injuries excluded.

With respect to seven, I agree, however I think philosophically BB changes it up! Much to the liking of the many arm chair qb's on this board, the drafting of Easley suggests (to my addled brain) that BB may have started to see the up side to aggressive penetration against today's passing league. This being the case (to my addled brain, again) and with a further year of development for Jones(x2) and Silaga(Siliga?), I'd expect a return to the 3-4, but with a one gaping scheme.

So technically, not a return to the 34 many of us would have in mind, so worth pointing out to the always meticulous Deus. Do you agree with the assumed change in a two gap scheme towards more of a heavily tilted one gap scheme? There's a huge difference between a one and two gap 34, then there is the difference between a hybrid. Which way are you leaning?

While I don't necessarily disagree, I'd like to know which way you lean.

I'm really expecting the defense to be top 5 and really layout some hits on other teams receivers. Especially the green slime from New York. I also expect a undrafted TE from ECU to have 4-5 red zone touchdowns.

I'm gonna agree with Rodney. A Super Bowl victory. Nothing less.

Barring major injuries, of course. :)

I love seeing all the new responses. Lets keep them coming. :)
