Report: Dobson had screw inserted into his foot during surgery in March

I too find this a mystery, and a non story. Long ago, they said waiting will heal it if the bone position is stable. If not they will stabilize its position by surgery. How did you expect them to stabilize it. With Duct tape perhaps?

Crazy glue. It involves hanging by a hard hat, I believe.

Surgical Treatment
Some stress fractures require surgery to heal properly. In most cases, this involves supporting the bones by inserting a type of fastener. This is called internal fixation. Pins, screws, and/or plates are most often used to hold the small bones of the foot and ankle together during the healing process.

We knew he had surgery, therefore we knew he almost surely had a fastener inserted, therefore that article is not revelatory.

2-3 months expected recovery time and it's been 4 1/2 months. Longer than expected recovery time could mean complications from infection or poor blood flow. Like it was with Julio Jones, this could be a reoccurring issue.

And why do you assume everybody keeps track of offseason surgeries? I didn't know he had a stress fracture and I didn't know it required surgery. It's obnoxious to sit in judgement of what you deem is newsworthy and what isn't.

Well, you didn't know. That doesn't mean the news story isn't months old. I'm not aware he's had a setback, therefore I don't know that he's off schedule as far as the team's concerned.

The news was when he had surgery in the spring, because that told us that the foot did not adequately heal with rest alone. Foot fracture requiring surgical repair always imply some concern about recovery. It's just a bad part of the anatomy to have problems.

Thx for the update. Hopefully his foot holds up.

It's okay everyone. Rayclay says he's fine so we have nothing to worry about.

Edelman had a notable setback that put his season in doubt, then he went out and caught 100 balls. Foot stress fractures heal slowly and can come back for years, due to low blood flow and putting weight on them all the time. Any surgery can be botched, but if an athlete wants to compete, sometimes you have to solve the problem.

Dobson whom I think has special talent is beginning to concern us. Will this linger or return? Will something else pop up. I'm beginni g to think maybe make a move for another WR complete talent. Like Denarius Moore who we can get for a round4-6. Or Brian Quick who has size/speed/talent. Just no QB. Dobson showed serious ability to get open and a Josh Gordon style second gear Deep. Denarius Moore has shown serious talent on a $hitty team and we can get him dirt cheap. Remember draft steals. ;) Quick I like MAYBE A TOUCH MORE due to his near 6'4 220 lb frame but he could cost us a #2 or 3. But I love his skillset. He to shows explosive early burst 1.47 10 yard split at his size. A second gear beyond his 4.50 40. And great in air athleticism. A QB/coach/system/work ethic could thrust his breakout. Just thoughts for now let's hope we have our 6'3 216 lb 4.37 guy with big time ball skills to play our X spot.

I'm worried for Dobson because I don't care for Lafell at all. He was outplayed by Ginn and Carolina never cared much for his potential. And he knew that. Its the reason he badmouths them. Carolina had hopes for David Gettis as their future impact WR. They were open on the fact they got a WR in round6 better than the one in Round3. Before Gettis got serious injury,he was their Dobson. The WR they knew had talent to potentially step up for them and they were open about it. They never thought Lafell had the talent to blossom into a consistent playmaker. I have no idea what Bill saw in him. He isn't that big to have huge size advantage at 6'2 210. He never had speed/athleticism to supplement his good not great size. Carolina always saw that, why didn't Bill. I hope Dobson is playing by end of preseason. Dobson/KT finally gives us a Z X tandem to make plays and strike fear in DBs and open things up even more for Edelman/Boyce in the slot and Gronk at medium range who is a deep threat was well due to his size.

Actually if everybody is healthy and we bring in Finley to reboot 2 TE sets this could be our best offense ever. Including 2007 because this one is more balanced and can strike from more angles. Our speed now can also go over the middle. Our 2 TEs Gronk/Finley would be far superior to any TE we had then. This team would also have better red zone talent. 2 big physical athletic TEs who can also block like XTRA OTs inside the red zone as well catch. We have a quick slashing power back in Ridley and 2 RBs who can run routes and catch like slot WRs with great quickness. Also a 6'3 and 6'1 WRs who can win in the red zone with leaping athleticism or quick breaks or both at same time. If our WRs stay healthy and play to their talent and we make a move for a second tall physical athletic pass catching TE like Finley and this offense can dust 2007. With Balance/versatility/size,speed/ arsenal of weapons that a defense couldn't possibly anticipate what's coming and defend.

X Dobson( top flight playmaking speed/athleticism/talent/can win over middle)
Z KT ( his cousin and pro bowl corner state his rare route speed/quickness)
Slot (Edelman is great there,Boyce occasionally adds dynamic edge, rare slot speed)
TE Gronk/Finley(2 big athletic WRs/deep threats due to size/block like having XTRA OT)
RB Vereen/White both quick and great passcatchers and good stout blockers for 210 lbs. They are fast elusive runners with underrated power. Both can block a LB like fullbacks almost and mismatches when passcatchers.

I think the days of considering Finely are well past us, to be honest.

As a matter of fact, it seems as though he has convinced himself that he is going to be the recipient of a 10m dollar insurance policy, which many still think is wrong. The wording of the policy will be quite important, and normally most insurance companies don't rush right out and pay 10m dollar policies if the insured can still manage to make a living playing NFL football.

Either way, Finely believes that he is weighing offers from other teams against this supposed 10m dollar policy, so unless some idiot team offers him something close to that price range, he may not play again in the NFL. There was an article on NBC sports today that said the Seahawks have stopped wasting their time in the pursuit.

This sounds like he is doing the qualification runs, before usually rejoining the team. I'd say that is good news.

Either way, it sounds like great news, but there was a report from someone stating that they were timing the intervals between the sprints too, which may suggest that they are working on getting him back into football shape/conditioning just as well.

Either/or---it sounds like he's getting much closer to returning to the field.

Great news imo, it was reaching the point where a 6 week PUP to start the season was a likelihood. While that's still in play he could be ready for the season if he hits the field in the next week or two.

As it stands, we have Edelman and Amendola, followed by KT and then everyone else. Dobson will return at some point but he will have fallen behind in his preparation. LaFell is present but he has been inconsistent, so it is a reasonable concern and a bit disappointing that we may not be getting a lot from our larger WRs early on. How they are contributing in December will be much more important. Evidently, Bill does not share the concern either at WR or TE, or he would strengthen the roster. This could still happen of course (when did Doug Gabriel arrive?), but the longer we go the harder it will be for a new guy to get up to speed.

Dobs is probably on track to miss game one and debut for a series in game 2 of pre-season. I'm expecting Gronk to miss game one as well.
