OT: FOX ends relationship with WEEI

Fox Sports pulled its advertising not just from WEEI, but from all Entercom (owner of WEEI) radio stations countrywide - over 100 stations. That's a major screw-up. Minihane and the local nitwits who "manage" him should consider themselves very lucky not to be fired over this debacle.

Erin Andrews - Good Looks = Unemployed

Even if that were true, really, at the end of the day - so what? Aesthetics is something people value very highly in absolutely everything, including in people. I've kind of gotten over the "this person only got here because of their looks" stuff. Good looking men and women both benefit from being attractive.

It's not like a sideline reporter or anyone employed in sports media is splitting the atom, anyway.

My take on it is as follows:
His language is loaded. I've read everything and his apologies are really not apologies at all. When you are sincere in an apology, you don't say "sorry" and then spent the rest of the time explaining that the words you used were wrong but the thought was right...

Whether he should have to apologize is a matter of opinion but Fox thinks so and if I were requiring an apology, I would not consider anything he offered as meeting that standard. His responses are defiant and smug. That's his choice but I don't think it will fly with Fox

That is a good job by FOX for sticking up for their employee and basically giving Entercom a giant FU!~

Look, everybody (well mostly everybody) in media owes some of their success to their looks. Andrews is hot, but that doesn't mean she can't do the job. Let's face it, its not rocket science! I would rather have hot chicks than these creepy old men! Musburger should have been fired for that sincerely creepy fawning over AJ McCarron (super hot) girlfriend.

BTW, I've seen the keyhole vide, well worth a watch ;-)

This is crazy. I knew Kirk when I was in junior high and high school. We knew each other through a mutual friend. We all played R.B.I. Baseball on Nintendo together. I haven't spoken to him since high school. I had no idea he had a radio program until I saw this topic.

Has anyone actually seen the video of him saying what he said? If not I would suggest you do.

In my opinion reading what he said gives off a much darker vibe than when I hear him say it in a different context. To me he comes across as saying in an exaggerated manner for entertainment purposes. He seems like he regretted using the term ***** a few seconds after he said it too (I don't blame him that's a little over the top even for me). And again in the context that it was in I don't think he really wants Erin Andrew to seriously die. If you still think that after watching this then you may want to check for the giant stick up your ass and have it removed by a professional.

Yeah, well, trouble is, he has a long history of this sort of crap. His stick is being agressively obnoxious, to the point of almost coming to blows with some of the other on air people. Unfortunately, it's pretty much all he's got.

As it turns out, Kirk Minihane’s week-long suspension from WEEI for comments he made about Fox Sports reporter Erin Andrews will last longer than the network’s revocation of advertising from all stations owned by parent company Entercom.
Friday, Fox banned its personalities from appearing on WEEI and pulled all advertising from Entercom’s 100-plus stations nationwide in response to the station’s initial decision not to punish Minihane.
The network was apparently appeased by WEEI’s announcement later Friday – after the ads were pulled – that Minihane was suspended. Fox informed Entercom Wednesday afternoon that the advertising, which industry sources have estimated at a little more than $1 million, would be restored.
“We appreciate Entercom’s recognition and response to the inappropriate comments made by the WEEI host,’’ said Fox Sports senior vice president of media relations Lou D’Ermilio in a statement. “It is our sincere hope both organizations can now move forward.”
Entercom Boston vice president and market manager Phil Zachary said, “On our end, we consider the matter 100 percent resolved.”
Zachary said he expects that Fox Sports personalities such as Tom Verducci and Ken Rosenthal will be allowed on WEEI programming going forward.
Minihane’s suspension, which began Monday, was announced Friday night by Entercom president and chief executive officer David Field.
