Ras-I Dowling doing what he does best.

Jimmy G? Too soon?

To be honest he has to show something soon to show he has talent. I'm already hearing bust label around. Some fans will always defend him no matter how bad he is in however many practices.I don't want to believe he is a bust yet. However When is he going to look good in practice and start showing some consistent accuracy. Bridgewater is looking really good.

I don't expect him to be anything near Brady at this point, but in addition to being a very high draft pick (I thought he could have been drafted much later,) he is going to take up a roster spot this year and we have a lot of talented players who can help at various positions. I'd hate to cut a guy who is ready to contribute soon for a QB who may never play. I think it's probably safe to say that Mallet isn't going anywhere based on Jimmy G's play. I hope he steps up, but he's a small college kid thrown into the deep end right now.

The worst draft pick of the BB era can't be Dowling, T. Wilson, Bequette or Brace. Why? Because we actually remember their names. Does anybody remember Shawn Crable?

I don't even think O'Connell was BB's worst ever third round pick. That would be Taylor Price.
Tyrone Mckenzie never played a down for us.

Ras-I got hurt? Jet's camp must be practicing in full pads...

Dave Stachelski retired in camp in his rookie year.

What complete nonsense. He's already had his share of good plays. He's had his share of bad plays as well. Which is EXACTLY what you'd expect from a kid coming from FCS to the NFL. But he's absolutely had plays that have opened some eyes. I forget which practice is was...yesterday or the one before, where the pass of the day was a long completion down the sidelines to (I believe) LaFell.

Oh, and you heard it here first. Bridgewater won't be winning anything any time soon.

Dowling was a good player when healthy. He just never was healthy.

Plus, the Pats tried to trade the pick but had no takers.

I'm afraid that you're mistaken, my friend: It's been widely reported that the Miners made a substantial Offer for #33 before trading a nice Package of Picks to the Broncos for #36 to get Colin Kaepernick.

You mean Shawn - Cliff Avril Was Waiting for Us on a Silver Platter - Crable?

And regarding the all-time list of Bill's 3rd-round busts: don't forget Brock Williams.

Yeah. I actually had high hopes for him. This is where we need the :bricks: smiley back.

Yeah I can't forget the image of Crable hopping over the lineman to show some ridiculous athletic ability.
Then the monster preseason game against the Ravens his rookie season we all thought he would put it together.
I forget which poster in here pointed out to his lack of lower body strength and he was dubbed chicken legs.
I remember making him a 99 in Madden his rookie year.
As far as Brock Williams wow that was a waste of a pick I can not remember him contributing a positive play at all.
Ras I hurts because he was like a first round pick in a insanely deep draft and I know most posters on here thought insane physical attributes team leader.
His coach said he's the kind of guy a father would want to see his daughter bring home.
There was just that one problem freak Injuries where I remember some posters were concerned and some posters dismissed it saying it was in the past and we wouldn't of draft him if we thought that he would be easily injured.
It's difficult to write this without tears in my eyes.

Dowling wasn't a first rounder. He was pick #33 in the second round. Not that that's much better, but still...

The second round is a crapshoot. You cannot criticize for a 2nd round pick.

The entire draft is a crapshoot. Your logic basically implies that no draft that has ever taken place for any team should ever be criticized nor celebrated.

Specifically related to Dowling, this is a player that had a history of injuries. The Pats, for one, took him higher than they probably should have. For another, given his history, should have probably forseen that lingering and continuing injuries would be a problem in his pro career. It is what it is. They missed. They've also hit on a number of these. But if you're going to celebrate the number of players with similar pasts that they've hit on, you should also be allowed to criticize it when they miss.

I said he was like a 1st rounder in a deep draft hence not a 1st roundr.
I know pretty much every patriots draft to a tee.

My bad. I thought you meant "like" in the same way 20-something year old girls say it.
