Ras-I Dowling has a foot injury. Green still has chest, TE Anderson (thumb).

I know that he's a Jet and therefore our Foe, but I'm very relieved to hear that Green still has his chest.

Sustaining Heart, Kidney, and Liver functions tends to get tricky without one.

The frustrating part : it was pick #1 of day two.... new draft setup lead to "overnight planning". And instead of trading (I seem to recall desirable players on board, maybe someone's qb), BB chooses Ras.... No one is ever going to hit every single pick. But this one was particularly disappointing.

But : since Pioli left, NE has strangely seemed to have better drafts.

No.
Wilson has played football. May even play this year if making the 53.
Dowling as farm said wasted THE top #2 pick, a pick that likely could have been valuable trade bait, never mind the 30 other #2 picks taken after that pick.

Disagree completely. Dowling was a good player when healthy. He just never was healthy. Plus, the Pats tried to trade the pick but had no takers.

Wilson was a fringe roster player at best even when 100% healthy.

The worst pick of the Belichick era

Worst pick = O'Connell

They completely wasted a high draft pick on an unneeded QB who got axed in year 2. I'm not sure anyone else is even close, and that includes the likes of Tavon, Glass-IR and Jackson, IMO, even though they were drafted a round earlier.

At least Tavon, Glass-IR and Jackson were picks at positions of need.

Nobody was willing to offer what the Patriots wanted to trade down.

Moreover, that top pick is not the coveted commodity draft analysts believe it is. In the five years of three-day drafts, the #33 pick has been traded exactly zero times.

Maybe but it's not like Dowling's injuries were something new when he got to the NFL. His entire career was riddled with injuries. And, unsurprisingly, that's continued in the NFL.

If we're going to go that route, I'll go with Ron Brace. At least O'Connell had athleticism. Brace was a tub of goo who resembled Vince Wilfork insurance only in terms of girth.

If that is your view, then you must think the Easley pick is even worse.

I'm OK with the Pats taking chances on good players with injury histories because that's how you get them in the late first round and beyond instead of the top 20. Sometimes it works out (Curtis Martin, Gronk, etc.). Sometimes it doesn't (Dowling). But I don't think it means that the ones who don't work out deserve to be called the worst ever BB pick -- there are others that are far more deserving.

I don't even think O'Connell was BB's worst ever third round pick. That would be Taylor Price.

The Easley knee injuries are a worry. In my view those are different than Dowling. Dowling had broken his hand and had a knee injury in high school. Had knee and hamstring problems in 2008, played all of 2009 then missed time in 2010 because of a knee injury, broken ankle and pulled hamstring. He then pulled his hammy at the combine. That's a lot more worrisome to me than torn ACLs. He was just about always dealing with injuries.

My favorite part about this, not that I ever want anyone hurt, is that the Jets fans DID convince themselves he'd be a great player for Rex Ryan and he'd emerge as a starter with a real coach.

I'm not sure if they thought we werent bringing out his talents here or had thought we were using his injuries as an excuse.
