Report: Dobson had screw inserted into his foot during surgery in March

This could be an ongoing thing, if they knew about this in March than they should have had a better contingency plan than Lafell and Gallon(in a draft absolutely loaded with WR talent).

Edelman had a screw as well, IIRC. That worked out very well.

As for the Draft, Don't Panic, we have TFB. Dobson will be along soon enough.

That's why I was upset about the draft, WR was not addressed until the 7th round andin UDFA, what are the odds of any of those guys making an impact ?

Because they addressed it last year. Which of last year's rookie WRs were you ready to kick to the curb?

This is an example of how bad the sports media reporting is. Of course, they put screws in his foot. That's the whole point of surgery on a foot fracture. If it heals without the hardware, they don't get surgery. Surgery means they are putting screws in....

With a roster construction like this, I don't think you expect your rookies to contribute much unless you grab one in the first round, maybe in the second. Seems like the Pats are banking on their second-year guys to pick up the WR slack from last year. They didn't address the need this year because they feel that they already addressed it last year.

That said, I can see where the frustration comes from. I was hoping for Allen Robinson to fall to 61, and when he went #60 I thought the Pats might go with Jarvis Landry. If any of Thompkins/Dobson/Boyce pan out, it could end up being basically a moot point. If not, maybe we'll look back on that pick a lot differently.

If it was needed to heal then it was needed..just hope he will be 100% to start the year becasue we are thin at WR

By addressed I understand problem fixed. I would not go that far, actually we don't have a clue of how the 3 rookies will contribute this season. None of them were sure things, highly ranked players.

I would agree with your post any other year, but with the talent at WR in this last NFL draft we could make a case of picking another WR.

I'm tempted to look who were available at #62 but it's past, it is what it is.

Yep. The three sophomores + Edelman, Amendola, LaFell that's 6, already one more than we would normally keep.

Hopefully he can heal up fine, because these sort of injuries can end a career quick.

But... the coaching staff and pro personnel dept of the New England Patriots DOES have a clue how Dobson, Thompkins, and Boyce are developing and how they project to contribute this year.

Well, reading some of the posts about Gallon post-Draft, you would think that they have already begun molding his bust for Canton.

The middle of the 2nd saw a slew of WRs get drafted. My guess was that BB wanted a WR, but by the time it came to him, the guys he wanted were gone.

If I was in that locker room I'd torture him with my telescope magnet.

Its funny.. you "objective critics" do as much exaggerating the position that a handful of starry-eyed hopefuls take as these guys do exaggerating their binkys future... ;)

I think if he wanted a receiver high, he would have taken Marqise Lee at the end of the first. Lee was a great value pick as well.
