Patriots claim RB Tyler Gaffney for 2015

Interesting.

Pats obviously had multiple chances to select him and didn't. They passed on him seven times. He was the 17th RB selected, something like that.
This would be like an extra seventh-round pick (pre-injury), since they passed on him (twice) in the sixth, and they paid $400K for that right.
Which basically values that extra seventh-round pick at $400K of cap space.

The way I see it is this:

The Giants and the Panthers didn't think enough of these guys to use up a roster spot to protect them on their way to the IR.

The Patriots are.

The same can be said about Greg Salas. The Eagles got him because Belichick wasn't willing to keep him safe on the roster.

sounds promising

If he were hurt before the draft he would have gone undrafted, though, so we can't really thump our chests too much.

Hopefully he recovers 100% in a year, unlike Ballard

Oh yea, they're PO'd alright. Isn't it wonderful. It's within the rules. And BB will find every little crack in the armor. BTW, this kids highlights look very promising.
If they're on YouTube, watch the Stanford/Oregon game from last year. Gaffney was absolutely dominant. Stanford didn't even try to disguise what they were doing and Gaffney just ran right over them.

It's just not the "Gang-Green" level of butthurt going on, but the sheer ignorance of hos the system works that surprises me. Though there seems to be a couple voices of reason on that board, most seem to be like WHAT?

But yeah. He looks like a good bet at this point, especially if he's got a year on IR to learn the system and heal up.

Yup. Like a human snowplow.

Josh Hull was essentially a Cameron Gordon clone.
Removes one of the crowded ST LB group, including Chris White, Gordon, Fleming, McCuller, Davis - hard to keep up.

Hull - 6-2.6 237, 4.76
White - 6-2.6 240, 4.74
Gordon - 6-2.1 236, 4.72

Favorite Carolina GIF response attached:

and this quote:
"Belichick is the freaking Baelish of the NFL."

and from one of their Moderators:
"This sucks Ebola balls. I know I hate the Pats entire organization with a raging fury for a reason... And they give me more and more reasons with every passing day. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to punch Teddy Bruschj in the face."

What did you expect? Hell, most of their parents are brothers and sisters....just joking...sort of...

IIRC with Ballard we have to keep him until the final cutdown then we can IR him - or am I wrong and does he have to make the 53 then be IRed ?

He does have to be kept until the final 53 if we want to IR him without exposing him to waivers.

But assuming that they sign someone else's final cut, there's really no cost in doing so. It means that they have one less spot during the cutdown to 75, but that's it. If you're going to sign someone else's final cut, then the last guy to make your cut can either be Gaffney, who's subsequently moved to the IR, or someone else, who's subsequently cut to free up a spot for whatever new guy you sign.

The cost is minimal enough that it's basically getting something for nothing.

After skimming through those comments can anyone help me out with which coach was it and with what Player ho was it that did the same thing to us?
I remember people saying that other teams had done this to us even before Jake Ballard, can anyone help me out with who they were?

I believe it was the Vikings, Brad Childress took Garret Mills from us. Though my memory is fuzzy on that. Somebody please confirm this.

This is different, they only had to wait until the cutdown. When BB cut Salas they needed the space.

Lol @ this post.

I was reading more of the forum, apparently the Panthers GM worked for the Giants when we swiped Ballard from them. I googled it, and it's true! Freaking hilarious! lol:D

Ridley and Vereen are in the last year of their contracts, Bolden may/may not make the team, and the other RBs in camp are rookies. Gaffney's basically a free (no signing bonus paid) peak at a potential replacement.

I love it when BB does this type of stuff. Adds to the hatred. After the referees stole that game in Carolina last fall, their fans were complete ***holes (maybe like us?). Anytime we can stick it up their wazoos I'm happy.

I take offense to that...we are much bigger ***holes then the Carolina fans :)

I love this move and wanted us to draft him this year. Tough runner and hopefully he has a full recovery and can be part of our success.

I have no idea why people cry about using the rules to your advantage.

His gait kind of reminds me of Robert Smith, the Vikings RB from the 90's or whenever it was.

Cameron Gordon is going to be this teams next special teams ace. He is a stud special teams player, he will be the best special teams LB we have had since Izzo.

Height: 6021
Weight: 236
40 Yard Dash: 4.72
20 Yard Dash: 2.69
10 Yard Dash: 1.65
225 Lb. Bench Reps: 18
Vertical Jump: 36
Broad Jump: 09'08"
20 Yard Shuttle: 4.28
3-Cone Drill: 6.74

The 3-cone and 20-yard shuttle numbers are ridiculous; he can go sideline to sideline as a special teamer.
