You are a Gatorade executive. A guy from marketing burst into your office out of breath and says, "Boss, we'll sell millions with this great advertising idea."
You wonder, "Millions of what?" but don't interrupt.
"We do a football comic with Peyton Manning on the banner ad then we add it to a Patriot fan site."
"What if some minority of Patriot fans do not like Peyton Manning?" you ask.
"Well, we can add Eli Manning. I see the problem. What if they don't like either Manning? Hmmm. We can add JJ Watt, Cam Newton and RG3."
"Should we add a Patriot player?" you ask.
He smiles patronizingly at you and says, "It is your call, boss, but I have a marketing degree from University of Tennessee and know about these things."

Do you trust him or your gut?

what if i told you that ads are chosen that way.

Gatorade targets sports, Patsfans.com is a sports website. Patsfans.com chooses "Sports stuff" as the types of ad's that would be generate revenue. Gatorade chooses "Sports stuff" as the type of site they want to show up on.

I can assure you 1000000000000% someone at gatorade did not call ian and go, hey we want to put this specific ad on your forums.

The ad is for these:
http://leagueofcaptains.gatorade.co...campaign=8185277&utm_medium=109883443#/comics

A series of comics, it's pretty good art but everything else is very cheesy (JJ Watt one has something about his dedication and preparation with food etc).

Google Ad Sense (I assume) just linked NFL related message board with NFL related ad campaign, the Google bots don't differentiate between "do these guys like the Mannings or not?" just yet :p

It's all good. Seeing either Goober or Gomer on an ad on this site only fuels my righteous wrath and makes me yearn for the start of the season.

I have been known to purchase action figures of them and melt them down in an old pot hoping for an onfield meltdown of them This year, my daughter is making VooDoo dolls of them to use a pincushions throughout the year. We'll see how that works out.

so theses ads "work" eh?

let me just say that I, Joe Kerr, will NEVER purchase, allow to be given or let anyone in my family EVER try Papa John's Foreheadzza.

so yeah...keep pumping them millions into "Goober Does Dallas" remakes for all I care.

If you don't want to see this ad, there's a simple way to stop them. Become a patsfans.com supporter. :)

That's one of the reasons I am a patsfans supporter.

Maybe it's just me, but my brain tends to discount/ignore spaces. For example, we have pictures frames in my house (16 years for most of them) and I could not easily tell you which one is where. I could give you a vague sense of what is there or I would notice if they were gone, but nothing too detailed.

My wife is starting to notice that this is starting to spread to animate objects as well. :D
