Bequette played TE in high school and he was recruited to Arkansas as both a TE and DE before Houston Nutt (head coach) decided to redshirt him as a freshman and to have him only play DE. It seems that playing DE at the NFL level is not going to work out for Bequette, but I wonder if TE would.

He has the physical attributes –

Height: 6045
Weight: 274
40 Yard Dash: 4.75
20 Yard Dash: 2.70
10 Yard Dash: 1.66
225 Lb. Bench Reps: DNP
Vertical Jump: 34
Broad Jump: 09'05"
20 Yard Shuttle: 4.07
3-Cone Drill: 6.90

There have been NFL players make the position change in the past, Jace Amaro, Taylor Thompson, among others; even James Develin was a DE at Brown prior to the Patriots converting him to FB.

This could be offseason boredom, but I figured I would throw it out there for discussion, thoughts?

You know it's the offseason when we start really over thinking the players attributes.
I still dont want to give up on Bequette just yet the guy Is working and I don't want to write him off as a bust as of yet.

The idea isn't a bad one, the question is, does he have the athleteciscm ? I know during OTAs they were using Jamie Collins in some sort of offensive capacity (in the offensiv huddle), we know Collins is a freak athlete, question is, does Bequette have the hands, he's already answered the most famous question here on the board, "can he rush the passer ?".

Players that are drafted fairly high should just see the field imho. If they suck, we as fans deserve to see this for ourselves and then we can crucify them later. If they had let him play just two games with significant snaps, all of this intrigue and anger would go away.

Seriously, how can high draft picks ride the bench when garbage ass Guyton was on the field for years? This is a bigger mystery than the meaning of life or where the hell Carmen San diego is lol.

I'd rather not nor do I "deserve" to see a player that BB deems shouldn't be playing. We are fans not talent evaluators. All we deserve is to see the best product available and it seems as if Bequette isn't part of that product.

It has more to do with him having prior experience at TE.

This ISN'T the practice thread forum??

Taylor Thompson is intriguing. I would rather have left him at DE. Oh jake beqette that's right. You know, he is a player I got excited about getting in the third round. He taught me a valuable lesson however. I got excited over him based on scouting reports, production and heresasy, without watching his movement skills and power for myself in games.I was psyched over getting him. we got him and i was thinking Ryan Kerrigan steal in round3. LMAOOOO. Then I saw him rushing the passer for about 5 plays and I was distraught and very dissapointed. His movement in game came nowhere near his combine #'s. And he lacked strength terribly. I don't bout TE. Maybe if he mastered the craft of it.

I think the same thing. DE position is a premium position becsuse putting consistent heat on the qb is crucial in this ever increasingly explosive pass happy league getting faster and faster. Ninkovich is solid and plays smart. But he isn't a difference maker and doesn't make any wow plays. Yet Bill seems completely content and psyched having g him start. And shows no interest in remotely finding an upgrade. We hear excuses and flaws we don't actually get to see for ourselves bout players we feel has a shot to be difference makers.

JC, I played Division 2 baseball as a middle infielder, howzabout I play shortstop for the Red Sox?

All due respect Craig but I don't think that is true. Belichick has drafted Bequette, Buchanan, and Moore in the past 3 drafts.

Huh?

Bequette has NFL talent otherwise he wouldn't have been drafted in the third round in 2012. If you were drafted by a MLB team I would say you could give it a shot.

Did anyone witness him in OTA'S? I heard nothing. He's still on the team. Big rugged Arkansas kid. If BB thought he wasn't worth crap he'd be gone. I'll take a late bloomer. Bruschi didn't set the world on fire right away. Neither did Troy. He's still on the roster for a reason. I won't be surprised if he's cut, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he makes the roster and has some impact.

I came over on the Mayflower as an 8 year old. Why do you ask? How old are you?
I was trying to figure out if you were young enough to play in MLB.

I'm 35 years old.
