We will win the SuperBowl if....

It isn't just Brady, Revis and Gronkowski that need to stay healthy, 95% of the most important starters needs to stay healthy. It was an incredible coaching job by Belichick to get to the AFCCG, with Gronkowski, Wilfork, Kelly, Mayo, etc on the IR. Our defense was shredded up the middle with all of the defensive injuries (Talib was key player who missed games too). And our offense isn't elite when Gronkowski is out. IF we had all of our team healthy like Denver did, I think we would have gone to the SB last year. Add in Revis and Browner to that defense, IF they stay healthy this team can beat anyone.

Brady was amazing considering the pressure up the middle, his only experienced established WRs don't catch many passes beyond 7 yards and the only WRs with big play ability were very raw rookies with rookie jitter hands. A lot of people are banking on Revis to be an all out Savior. While he is a top3 corner and perhaps best he can only control so much. While I love Browner I do have concerns with his speed as he is very close to 30. But my concern is passrush. Somebody has to step up. Easley/Buchanan/Moore need to compete to be that guy who steps up. Although I expect our young triad of WRs to step up I would like to trade for another talented prospect that can emerge. Until somebody steps up we never have enough prospects. I really like Denarius Moore. That dude is explosive and has shown he can Totally ICE respected corners! He has his problems, but on a garbage team. We are the new england patriots. Denarius Moore won't have them problems here. He will be blown away and embrace our work ethic and winning attitude. I think he really takes off here and he becomes a steal. I think finding gems from bad teams that can flourish on a new team is essential to winning a Superbowl. Part of being proactive and showing ability to evaluate talent and anticipate. Not to mention he would be catching passes from the best QB in a precision system rather than that sandlot trash in Oakland. Sterling Sharpe believes on a team like patriots or saints Moore would be a top 10 WR. I would bet my prized plane he would be awesome here. Everybody knows I want Finley. He is in tremendous shape from rehab and training. He is very determined to be an impact again. If we play Seattle in the Superbowl i he can settle Chancellor and put him on the defensive with his tough nasty downfield blocking. Next we need to fix interior OLine. Not put a bandaid gut fix it. Then we are Superbowl favorites and should dominate any team.

Nothing big, Finley won't break the bank. Denarius we can get for a 4th rounder. Only thing that can cost us is obtaining a dominant guard or center. Unless we sigh Incognito. But trading mallet and a #3 or a #2 draft pick is a small price to pay to protect our franchise. Help ensure his health while giving him a clean pocket with time to dissect offenses and step up and pass. Makes our WRs better and whole passing game. Vereen and Gronkowski will be weapons on every play because they won't be needed to block. Our OLine will finally be able to block any DLine one on one. So if it costs a #2 its a small price for a Superbowl trophy.

Unless we sigh Incognito.

I'd do more than "sigh" if the Pats signed this whackjob.

Football is not that predictable. NBA basketball because of the size/talent and a seven game series almost is, but every NFL game is unpredictable.

Weren't the Rams the complete team in 2001?

Belichick hadn't established himself as one of the greatest coaches in NFL history and nobody would have foreseen the Patriots continuing on to provide an era of unparalleled AFC East excellence.

Yet they don't win the Super bowl every year. They didn't win in 2007, for instance. I'm not sure the point of your post, but it has nothing to do with my point. I could have named a dozen teams who had the health and firepower to win the super bowl, that didn't.

It's rather simple @RayClay: nothing is written in stone when it comes to sporting events.

I could be misremembering it, but Tyree had had only 4 receptions on the year. He also caught a TD earlier in the game.

Talk about catching fire and burning out. :sigh:
Agree. You make my point exactly. Of course, we all want TB, Revis and Gronk to have great, full, healthy seasons, but winning it all takes the whole roster and more than a little good fortune along the way.

Brady, Revis, and Gronkowski, stay healthy for the entire year.

Agree or Disagree?

I agree. Very much agree.

As other posters said above, bounces can always go this way or that. But like the 2004 team, this team would be so much better than its competition it could be impervious to chance. We'll see though. Seattle is pretty damn good, but if those three were healthy, I'd at least feel confident we could wipe out the AFC.

I sigh incognito all the time. My wife will say or do something then I'll sigh and my wife will say, "DId you just hear someone sigh?" And I'll say: "Wasn't me."

I must have misunderstood your post. That is true. Still, football is more upredictable than games with 7' centers and 7 game series. Every playoff game is sudden death, which is not true of baseball and bball.

I've got it! If we win enough games to get into the playoffs, then we never lose again until September.

I was thinking the same thing... "Make the playoffs and go undefeated the rest of the way and the Super Bowl is ours!!!"

Of course they did.

Ahhh c'mon guys! Inky is a great teammate. He knew his little sidekick Martin lacked power and toughness for the NFL. He was just trying to be a good teammate and toughen the wimp up some. He had no idea he was going to walk off the team sobbing like a 14 year old girl with a pimple.

If we SIGN him I don't give a D@MN What he does or says in his own time as long as he can maul opposing Lineman and make them cry and break them like he did johnny Martin. And help us finally get over that him and win a Superbowl, then welcome Inky! We are the patriots, we are more disciplined too keep players in order. Besides, winning goes a long way as well in keeping order. Better coaches are held to a higher standard, and be able to get talented players focused with our standards of work ethic/discipline/craft/motivation/and our positive atmosphere winning promotes. Jimmy Johnson took on many players and it worked out. He drafted for upside and worked hard to ensure talents reached their ceiling and became impact players. We have been successful getting troubled talents focused. Bill shouldn't let Hernandez debacle stop us from taking on Moss and Talib such projects. That was totally different! A troubled young talent or a weedsmoker or quirky personality is much different from a sociopathic murderer. Just because a player has had an outburst before or DWI or smoked weed or had focus issues on bad teams doesn't mean they are capable of murder! Thats crazy! Sociopaths can be hard to spot, they cover their behavior and thoughts in public. Bill shouldn't let it get him down he didn't spot that about Hernandez. Sociopaths trick even shrinks.

...Gronk plays all playoff games

Denver was far from healthy themselves. They had a rash of injuries to pro bowlers and a suspension to Von Miller. That's why most analyst across the country are picking them to return to the Superbowl. Aside from all the free agents they added, they have a lot of talent returning that were lost for the season.

This team has the potential to be the greatest patriots team of all time, IF a lot of things fall into place; and IF most of the below falls into place, I expect them to make it to the SB .

On D:
Everyone important, especially Revis stays healthy
Browner is the corner we're hoping he is
Ryan or Dennard become solid #2 corner material
Mccourty plays like last y ear
the SS position is played by someone who doesn't suck
IF the above happen, we'll have the best secondary in the NFL

Wilform is 80% of what he was before injury
Chandler improves a little
Easley stays healthy and has an impact like Seymour had his rookie season
Mayo goes back to what he was before injury (which in my opinion is a good but not great mlb)
Hightower improves a little
Collins makes the jump we think he will
Nink plays like last year
IF the above happens, I wouldn't call it the best front 7 in the NFL, but it should be pretty good

On O:
Brady stays healthy (a requirement)
Gronk stays healthy (not a requirement, but would help a lot)
Two of our new receivers from last year have breakout years -- Dobson, Amendola,Thompkins
Edelman stays healthy
Vareen stays healthy or Ridley regains BB's trust
IF the above happens, I expect the offense to be top 5, maybe even #1

I haven't been this excited about being dominant on both sides of the ball since the 07 and 04 seasons -- although in 04 it was more certain since we took an already SB winning team from 03 and added Corey to it.
