That sucks - gotta believe the chronic health issues were too much to overcome. Pity, as I would have loved to see him wreak havoc on the interior for the Pats. Wish him the best.

not a huge surprise.

good luck to him though.

I'm bummed. I thought he was gonna be an impact player for us. ...

Best of luck in whatever he does away from football.

What a shame. I was still hoping that he might overcome whatever issues he had to get on the field. Hope he goes on to have a great life off the field.

I never expected him to play a down for the Pats, I don't know why, just always had this feeling.

Good luck Armond.

A shame to have come so close to all of our dreams and have it yanked away.

I wish him the best of health.

Armstead, Harrison, Moe, Zusevics, etc, none of them reached training camp.

I wish him good health.

Kudos to Armstead for having the courage to chase his dream and the wisdom to know when to stop chasing it. Best of luck and best of health to him.

i echo what everyone else is saying

Too bad. Guy had a lot of potential. I hope his medical issues are not going to be significant enough to affect his life any worse than ending his football career.

I didn't hold much hope for him making the final roster since he was absent from minicamp, but I was hopeful that I was wrong and he turned into what he could have been if healthy.

Maybe someday a guy in Iowa will plow over his corn field and built a football stadium and Armstead will get to live out his dream.

Its got to be tough getting that close, but never seeing an NFL game. I feel bad for him, but I'm sure he is doing the right thing.

Said head coach Bill Belichick: "It has been a pleasure being around Armond, as he gave everything he could to play for us. Armond worked extremely hard since joining us last February. He's had a lot of adversity personally that he's had to deal with – unusual compared to most other players – but he's always had a great attitude, worked hard and really did everything we asked him to do. While it is unfortunate he will not be able to play football, Armond is an outstanding young man who has a very bright future in whatever path he chooses."

I don't think BB has gushed that much about a departing player since Bruschi. Armstead must have made quite an impression with his effort and attitude.

Well this sucks, that's why I never start counting guys as "extra draft picks." Good luck Armond, I'd be really depressed after making this far and never get to play a down. Even though he's got some dough still have to feel really bad for him. Hopefully he can finish his degree if he hasn't already.

Best of luck to him, of course. And condolences as well. This must be a bitter pill.
