DWI in North Carolina.

Weeks before his appeal for the year long suspension later this month.

I think he might be done.

Might be worthwhile to toss the browns a 7th round pick for him, and see if we can get Goodell to give us one of those "get him cleaned up, and we wont suspend him for forever" deals he seems to hand out to some other teams.

What's after a yearlong ban? 2 years or life?

I would trade a 7th for his rights. He gets help and comes back at age 25.

This man may be cursed. This is just surreal.

Utter moron. Given all the talent in the world. Something I would kill for and he goes and wastes it...

Josh Gordon is officially the dumbest athlete in the world. With the season he had last year he has a cheque of tens of millions of dollars ready to be handed to him and all he has to do is basically lock himself in his house for the spring.

Yeah, a 7th sounds about right, just make it conditional on him not getting life suspension or something unprecedented like that.

There's dumb and then there's alcoholism and/or other substance abuse problems. Once, maybe twice could be just dumb (and twice is stretching it). But 7? Just "dumb" doesn't begin to cover it. Sadly, this dude looks to have some serious problems. One's I'm not sure we can help.

I'd take a flyer on him. Even if the dude never plays another down of football. Because I would love if we could help him get his life back together. But it may take more than we can provide.

BTW, Gordon's current suspension is indefinite. He has the right to petition the league for re-instatement after a year (which is usually automatic re-instatement as long as the player has kept out of trouble), but the league can deny it and he can be suspend for up to life on the current suspension (assuming he loses his appeal which at this point is a given).

Wait...wasn't this only first arrest?

I feel bad for the guy. I doubt this is his choice in life. Not many make this their choice willingly.

Yeah, I know. Gifted athlete, lots of dough, chicks, can't feel bad, etc but (and I am no
liberal weenie) years of being pandered to and not having to take responsibility for his lot
in life have probably led to this downward spiral. He probably no longer has the ability to
put this on a track for success without some serious intervention. I hope he gets the help
he needs. Nobody should have to go down this path.

Many people would turn that kind of talent into a $100 million career. Gordon has made about $3.3M, is in serious danger of losing over $1.1M of the bonus that has already been paid to him, and appears to have enough issues that I'm guessing he's already spent a considerable amount of that other $2M. That's really depressing when you think about it.

.....so long Josh!

Too bad.

I always stuck up for him when he was just smoking weed, but you can't get arrested.

Why would anyone want to give a 7th for a guy who is totally, completely unreliable? He could be an unrestricted free agent willing to sign for the absolute minimum and the Patriots still wouldn't take him.

Actually had we traded for him chances are he would have been flying straight. Cleveland is a losing organization with absolutely no structure/leadership/work ethic/motivation. In short they just don't seem to give a damn. Or there would be structure there to guide these guys and infuse discipline and will to work and win. I would trade a third rounder for his rights. Talent like that doesn't grow on trees and can't be taught no matter how hard a player tries. The patriots are an organization that can straighten his career. Even if. Its a 1 in 10 they straighten him out its a he!! Of a lot more likely than landing a pro bowl WR of his caliber in the draft or any player his caliber in the first round much less third. I would waste a third rounder for a chance to have him racking up 2000 yards for us in 2015. How many third rounders have we squandered for very little reward.

Cleveland probably told him to behave and work hard but what kind of structure is in place to ensure it. None! Had we traded for him im willing to bet he would have been training/preparing to win instead of failing drug tests and getting DWI's. There's a reason lawyers kids get accepted to ivy league schools and kids that grow up in public housing end up in jail or on heroine. Structure and discipline.

Go to meetings and don't drink. Sounds lame. Get your life back. Sounds awesome.
