that Jets D, Jalen Saunders, and Cj2k are very solid but hope and don't think its enuf to get us..

Johnson and Ivory
Decker and Kerley and whatever
Cumberland (and Amaro)

That's a group of skill players with some potential. That team is going to be all about the quarterback.

I was out jogging yesterday when I had an epiphany. A couple years ago my wife and I were looking ta SUVs and she really wanted to get a land rover. I was basically dead set against it and she didn’t quite understand. I told her that they see overpriced (you don’t get what you pay for) and they had reliability issues.

Naturally, she told me I was crazy and that I didn’t know anything about cars. We now own a subscription to consumer reports where I was finally able to convince her it was a bad buy (based on said reliability now backed up with proof).

I now understand why I was really against it and why the car just failed to make a good impression on me.

The symbols are too similar. Though, I do have to applaud the symbol designers for correctly circling the problem.

Even if the Jets had Danny Amendola, they'd still suck.

I'm imagining just how BAD the Jets could be without Rexies Defense.

Quartersuck would be nearer the mark.

Today is the 350th anniversary of the founding of the colony of New Jersey. I can't help thinking that that might be one that the Queen wouldn't take back.

We're also only 4 years away from the 50th anniversary of the Jets first and last Superbowl win
So in four years, more than one-seventh of the time since New Jersey's founding will have passed between then and the Green Beans' AFL-NFL postseason exhibition win. I wonder how many players and fans from that event will still be alive. Pretty soon all we'll have is video/audio recordings and written accounts. Some folks might even deny it really happened.

I heard that Fireman Ed is in a cave in South America right now finger painting scenes from the epic win on cave walls.

Archeologists will work diligently to decipher the hieroglyphs. They will be compared to artistic renderings of games in the Roman Colosseum.

Every few months I just check into the Jets Suck thread to say, that yes, indeed, the Jets really and truly do suck:

S-U-C-K
Suck, Suck, Suck!

sometimes when I'm bored I go into the bathroom and take the plunger and plunge three or four times to get that suck suck suck sound...then I go outside and burn photos of Fireman Ed while sticking needles in my Blabba Wrecks voodoo doll....it's a minor obsession, I can deal with it if I really want to..

You ever accidently plunge up a Jets fan doing that?

That could get awkward.. ;)

not to mention a major HAZMAT incident...

In some far future from which memory of the Jets and what they stand for will have been, mercifully, expunged, one word will remain that will continue to stand as a synonym for all that is at once hilarious, absurd and humiliating about our life on this earth:

Buttfumble!

The Jets defense was so overrated last year it wasn't even funny. Spectacular front line, but mediocre at best back eight. Teams could and did pass over them a lot. If you could slow down their d-line which was gassed a bit by the end of the season, you could get big passing plays because their secondary was awful. And with Dee Miliner moved to the #1 CB position this year, it could be even worse even with the addition of Pryor in the draft. The Pats had a better pass defense than the Jets.

And CJ2K was a flash in the pan until proven otherwise. He a good back, but just a 1,000 yard back which isn't that special anymore. It has been three years since he put up 2,000 yards and three years since he put up double digit rushing TDs. He certainly makes their RB corp better, but let's not go overboard.

Pryor will help but they'll still need competent play out of their CB's back there, which I'm not sure they'll get.

Other than two games against mediocre QBs (Jason Campbell and Ryan Tannehill), Miliner looked completely lost on the field. Now he is their #1 CB going against opposing teams' best receivers (Cromartie had that job last year). And he can't stay healthy to boot.

The Jets may be forced to play a lot more zone coverage than they like. Rex likes to run about zero zone coverages. But with the group he has, he could be giving up a lot of long TDs if they are constantly trying to play man and get beat badly.

Either way is fine by me. Heavy zone coverage with awful corners is death by a thousand paper cuts, which Brady can deliver. Heavy man coverage with awful corners is death by a gatlin gun.
