at least thats what the boston media would say if this was mcdaniels and Brady after the last few years of "peyton calls his own plays" "peyton is like a general out there" "Peyton is like having an Oc on the field"

On Feb. 2, 2014, Adam Gase needed play that might reset the course of things in the Super Bowl. He has found a play before in this stadium in this season -- during a September game against the New York Giants. The score was 10-9 in the third quarter. ... But this time, Gase says frankly now, "I don't have that play." ... "I make some bad (play) calls," he said. "We had too many turnovers (two interceptions, two fumbles). We didn't protect Peyton as we should. We played our worst game on offense." The Seattle Seahawks claimed afterward they had deciphered theBroncos' hand signals and knew what play was coming. "We were aware of everything they were doing on defense too," Gase said. "They didn't do anything unusual. We just didn't execute. They did." Sleepless nights and restless months have followed.

But I've been personally assured by the media over and over and over again that Peyton DOES call every one of his plays. Gase is obviously lying.

And now I'm waiting for the inevitable "Did the Patriots give the Seahawks the Broncos hand signals?" article.. (95% joking)

Again, I don't care what the media knows or projects.

History happened, and when people look back, they'll see Bozo Pancake blowing the big games.

I'm gonna go watch Ty Law's 3-INT game now. Ahh, what a day off.

"They didn't do anything unusual. We just didn't execute. They did."

He's certainly right there, like when your QB forgets the snap count on the first play from scrimmage! That's very poor execution.

We can all take comfort in knowing that the fans from other teams also know that it was Peyton, Mighty Peyton, who took the gas pipe in the Super Bowl. Some spread the blame, but nobody is letting Manning off the hook. If Manning doesn't win another SB, he'll go down as #2 on the choking dog list, behind only Marino.

Yep! Hopefully he has sniffed his last SB. He legacy will be his legacy and it is good to see people acknowledge that his one win came against Sexy Rexy.

Given Peyton's penchant for problematic playoff performances, his top 10 all-time status has got to be in jeopardy.

I think I've figured it out. Peyton calls all of his own plays... except for the bad ones. Gase calls those, which totally explains why he still has a job.

Those who know better never had the Fivehead in their top 10; those who don't will always
have him in their top 10.

That's pretty much the case. If you go back to the Colts-Saints SB, near the end of the first half, the Colts had the ball and went with 3 straight running plays. Because they were so conservative, NO had enough time to move the ball and kick a FG as the half expired.

After the game, Manning was asked about the offense being so conservative on that drive. His response was that he was just running the plays that were called. No one thought to ask the follow up question of "Don't you call those plays?"

Manning falls somewhere between about 9 and 15.

Thanks, guys! I was bumming out as always this time of year. Trapped like a rat in the dead zone of the off-season with a month to go before camp opens.

It never fails to brighten my day when you bring out the old Peyton Manning punching bag for a few rounds.

Manning is "Mr. Sub-.500" 11-12 lifetime in the playoffs and 1-2 in Super Bowls.

Call it beating a dead horse - face, but Peyton Manning is seven pass interceptions behind John Elway for 14th all-time. (Tom Brady is 90 behind Elway).

If Manning gets intercepted six times this season, do you think Elway will be up in his luxury box with an orange towel leading the stadium chant, "Throw That Pick!" Throw That Pick!" Throw That Pick!" ?

Manning will have to get back to youthful INT form to crack the Top 10 in picks in the next 2 years.
I'm sure some tips from Eli would help.

My biggest nightmare is that somehow regular season stat master Peyton makes it to post season and in a scandal that could wreck pro football, Eli dons a Donk uniform while wearing a forehead mask throughout the playoffs and...I just can't bring myself to finish.

Montana, Brady, Unitas, Starr , Baugh, and Graham are definitely better than Manning in my book, and I could totally hear a good case for both Staubach or Marino being better QBs as well.

Out of curiosity, who would you place above Manning? Other than Brady, Montana, or Unitas (all givens in my opinion)?

Top, no doubt about it, these are them, 6 (no order)

Brady
Starr
Unitas
Montana
Graham
Baugh

7-8

Staubach
Young

Battling from there

Favre
Marino
Elway
Aikman
Bradshaw
Fouts
Moon

Others are probably in the mix (Stabler's criminally underrated, for example, although I still cant' get him up this high on the list, so it's safe to say that I'm probably missing a worthy player or two), and guys like Rodgers and Brees will eventually need to get a good look, too.

Interesting choice putting Young in the top ten. He definitely was one of the greats, but so many mediots/casual fans seem to rank him somewhere between 11-15 or so (Manning, Elway, and Marino tend to pop up in the top 10 more frequently). Would you say that his passer rating, MVP campaigns, and SB win put him in the top ten, or is there another factor to it?
