Would you pay Lynch what he wanted if he demanded trade?

I wanted Lynch when it was obvious the Bills were going to trade him but he's put some miles on the tyres since joining Seattle (900 odd carries in 3 years). Given his bruising style of play, it's going to hit him at some point in the near future.

At this stage of his career, I wouldn't pay that much given I'm reasonably pleased with the Patriots RBBC approach. Ridley and Vereen offer complimentary skills at a fraction of the cost.

Some sources are coming out and saying that if he doesn't get the deal he wants that he'd consider retirement, plenty of articles about it but i picked one out here for show http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000358350/article/marshawn-lynch-retirement-is-an-option

So if you got the hypothetical chance to get Lynch should that situation arise what would you do?
Personally, I would not pay him $5M because he is 28 years old with a lot of mileage on his legs over the past 3 seasons with over 900 carries. In my opinion, Stevan Ridley could become a Lynch; he has a very similar build, and running style.

I wish we'd been able to keep Blount. That guy was FUN to watch run.
He was exciting, a player that big breaking off big runs was such a rarity. He is going to be very successful in Pittsburg, I think we will be OK with Ridley but he certainly will be missed.

It depends on years if the deal was 2yr/10M I would, if it was 3 years or more, then no. Yes, he has a lot of miles but still has two good seasons in him imo. He a damn beast.

That's what i was thinking, i think i'd definitely give it serious consideration at the very least for a short term basis deal.

Meh, I'm kind of on the fence on that one. On one hand he had a terrific string of good games towards the end. On the other, I remember his 3 yards and a cloud of dust games as well.

Where's the ATM? I'd pay him that in a heart beat.

It doesn't matter if you'd give him $5M, because that's what he has decided isn't enough to get him to show up right now.

I have a feeling BB would love him... imagine those two giving a dual interview!

the pats have a 25 year old RB on the roster who has averaged 4.5 yards per att for his career as long as BB does not bench Ridley he can be a 300 att top 10 lead RB in the NFL

In fairness , it's not if BB benches Ridley, but if Ridley can secure the ball.

I'm a big Ridley guy, if he can hold on to the ball, I think he's perfect for us.

Not a chance. Lynch has been consistently overrated since 2011 because of a single extraordinary play. We're talking about a guy who has averaged 4.2 yards per carry over his career and who has averaged over that only once (in 2012), despite running behind some very good offensive lines. He scores a lot of touchdowns, which makes him a good fantasy football running back, but in the real world his reputation comes from highlight reels and his personality.

Given his age, $5m a year for a guy who averages 4.2 yards per carry is a big no thanks.

That's a big if, though. Belichick has no choice but to bench Ridley if he's putting the ball on the ground like it's covered in butter. He needs to learn to hold that thing high and tight. Too often, he approaches the LOS with it low and away.

Ridley is out after this year, Vereen is not a lock to stay either.

Hell yeah Seattle should cough up. Back in '05, BB extended Clock Killin Corey Dillon for 2 years $10 mill when the salary cap was $40 million less than today.... CD was 30 at the time, 2 years older than ML....and both coming off SB championships. Five mill is nothing these days...especially for a focal point like Lynch. This is Seattle's time....why change the dynamic when all it costs is a middle of the road contract.
Some will argue about precedent setting....and many teams would likely make a stand....but again, this is Seattle's time....and we are talking about Pete Carroll here.....Mr. By -the - Book...lol.
Why take a step backwards

I'm generally against paying high for any running back, especially 300+ carry guys who are approaching 30. When they lose it, they lose it FAST, and I just don't value the RB all that high when building a good running game (with the exception of the top 1%ers like Peterson). OL and team attitude are more important to me than who's actually running the ball.
