Patriots sign Kyle Auffray, TE from UNH

BB conducted a workout for him and shook his hand. Said he did a good job.

Given the Pats TE situation, that's good enough for me. Runs a 4.6 40, pumps iron better than some lineman and has height and weight....what's not to like....(hmmm Hope he's got good hands. :) )

This is impressive, I did not see him drop any passes, and he dominated in the blocking drill.

Whats funny is I heard something about this on the weekend. I see a guy that works at walmart every now and then, and he is originally from the NE area (huge pats fan). He said to me that a friend told him they were signing a real raw tight end, 6-5.

I kinda laughed it off, and thought to myself, whatever man.

Dude at walmart has connections apparently!

Keller/Finley will probably never play at a high level again. Like this pick up. Plus if our punter ever gets injured. This guy can punt also. Multi positions makes you stick around on the Pats.

He only was on the roster for three months. May to July.

Anyone know how he did in Arizona?

He did so well there, that I've never heard of him.

But seriously folks, Bill's had almost an entire year to re-set the TE position, and we're basically
in the same predicament now as we were on the day after The Prisoner was arrested.

He had four receptions.
In his career.
In 2010. Four years ago.

Dustin Keller must be really really injured...

Apparently there are fewer people here binkied to Maine receiver Derrick Johnson.

I can't argue with that, but I'm also hard pressed to point to a significant TE move that was available that I wish they'd done (draft included). Prying Housler away from the Cardinals is the most attractive option I can see.

Given the roster has 37 spots for guys who won't be Patriots come Labor Day, I'm more than happy to reserve a roster sport for a guy who appears to have the size/speed/strength/character traits to be great.

Realistically, Auffray has a low % change of making the team. Even if he makes the team, he has a low % chance of being more than a sub/special teamer. Still, for every 95% of these raw tool players who don't make it, you have the 5% who become Antonio Gates or Jimmy Graham.

This guy is gonna cost Bob Kraft a lot less than The Defendant did. Sign the beast!

Ballard didn't join the 'Cards until Nov. He wasn't on the team when Auffray got cut.

ah ok, didnt research timeline. was just noting that ballard (who we cut) made the AZ team while Auffray didn't. The size and regional combine numbers look great but after last year, its hard to get excited. We thought we had mini gronk with studfeld.

I always had concerns about sudfeld. He looked as tough as the lead singer from the spin doctors.
