Broncos are practicing with Green Balls.

Now Fox says it's to address their fumble problems. Maybe.
But I think it could also be a way to make the Defense aware of what their target is.
An emphasis on creating defensive turn overs could be the real reason for the green balls.
That really is a good idea to get the Defense focused on what they're after.
Wonder if BB will pick up on it?

Never heard of green balls except on a Leprechaun.

I've had beer nuts tho :)

I remember, a few yrs ago, Wrecks asked the Jest to get Blue Balls

It seems like this is more about the ball being slicker than normal so the offense has to be more careful but if the color also makes the defense see it better then they likely will be trying to pop it out more and thus this would also make it tougher on the O in practice.

Also I always like the creative ways people try to practice a skill.

This is very reminiscient of the scene in the "The Program" where Omar Epps has to carry the football all over campus and if anyone else brings it back to coach he is screwed and a fumblerooski occurs in the middle of a lecture.

So what good does it do if during real game time, the D can't spot the damn ball because now it's brown?

True. But maybe it helps to remind D players what they are suppose to be looking for. When they see
the green thing, were they looking for it or was their focus on something else. It seems if a player gets
into a habit of looking for it that habit will persist whether it's green or brown.

Perhaps the mods could move this to the Questionable Hygiene Forum.

Only way this makes sense to me is if Fox thinks the green makes the ball harder to see in practice and hence easier to see in a game when it's brown.

A little like baseballs heavy bat training and the Romans who trained with much heavier wooden shields and a much heavier wooden rudis (gladius).

How stupid do you have to be to not know to go after the ball?

I really expected this to be a joke some website ran in truly bad taste. Back in the 70's there was a racist joke that went "Did you hear the NFL is painting all the balls green? Yep you never saw a black man drop a watermelon did you?" I'm obviously not saying Fox knew about the joke but I can only imagine it making a comeback. Any color but green.

Why would the color of the football effect ball security whatsoever? Wanna work on ball security? Coat that sucker in Crisco or motor oil or something. Or just wet it down and maybe stick it in the freezer for a few hours before practice.

Thinking green footballs effects ball security would be like only buying red cars because you think they go faster.

But hey, if the Broncos are doing something stupid and ineffectual, cool.

What color balls will they be using to reduce the number of Super Bowl pick-6's Manning throws?
