You have to wonder if Belichick is less than pleased with the current WRs. I think we now have 14 on the roster.

Seriously he may feel he needs WR #s so he can run all 3 QBs thru all the reps they need and HE needs to be best able to choose the right #2 QB. Otherwise , yeah, maybe he thinks the vets suck.

Could be right about the QB thing, or it could be the lack of TE depth and quality options so he is compensating with receivers.

Need lots of WRs for camp reps and pre-season games.

Suspect there's going to be 3 on the field at any one time so there's 9 receivers (3 for each QB) + Slater who's a special teamer leaving 4 more receivers to compete elsewhere - Dunn & Wiggins on kick offs, for example.

The Pats have 13 because they let Greg Orton go last week.

Excellent speed, once he gets by he's gone.

Who knows what he'll become, but Wiggins has some desirable traits. This video is of his highlights so it's hard to say what else he does or doesn't do well or poorly. Regardless, he snatches the ball out of the air decisively, very important skill to succeed in the NFL. He's good with coverage right in his face, another key NFL skill. He seems to find the soft spots in zone coverage, another critical pro football trait. He has a decent break from the few routes he runs, staying squared up to the D pretty late in his moves, also good. Obviously, he's fast, can make a few people miss, but doesn't seem too psyched about getting tackled. Not chicken, but not bold either. He'd have to be tougher to make those screens work as well in the pros. He would seem to be natural for KO returns given how well he accelerates and can avoid one or two tackles. Plays bigger than he looks in general. Curious why he had such limited production in college.

Wiggins' teammate, the TE Jones, is one to really watch. If he can stay in one piece, he'll make the team and be a factor early, blocking and passing.

Steve Belichick apparently signed up for graduate courses at East Carolina...

If that were the case I have to think he would have drafted a WR***, given that it was the strongest and deepest position in the whole draft.

These are a couple of risk-free look-sees at guys with impressive raw athleticism, which is what 90-man rosters are for. You never know what you might unearth.

**EDIT after realizing I totally dissed Jeremy Gallon.
