This needs its own thread instead of raining on GP thread. If we are to acquire a wr perhaps Bill wants to trade a future pick for an established coached up WR once the season starts and he can see the big picture of what's available. I liked Mike Williams. Had 11 TDs as a rookie which showed great raw talent. Noway we get him now though. Is there anybody you have in mind. Keep in mind there has to be a chance he becomes available. And he has to have talent to help us. Try to keep in mind to think of a wr you think has breakout ability or has underperformed on bad offenses with a bad qb. Maybe a troubled talent in need of disciplined structure. Or a wr a team figures to lose and would like a return. Then there's WR's unhappy on their current teams.

I like Quick if rams would part.Justin Blackmon if we could get him on the field(could be a steal) or Maclin if he hasn't lost his explosiveness. I also like Darick Rodgers potential but Noway colts are letting him go now.

You can like these guys all you want, but why would any of these teams give them up? For a draft pick or a developmental player? If anything happens it would be if a WR was released during June cuts...

A year of NFL maturity and a healthy TE corps will be beneficial to this group..

This place needs a mandatory mini-camp that covers thread titling.

I doubt Blackmon will ever play a down in the NFL again.

I don't see this happening for the reasons stated by other posters. In addition, when a six time pro bowl WR like Chad Johnson got six big bucks from Bob Kraft but couldn't learn the Pats Playbook with the benefit of the offseason and preseason, I think it's highly unlikely that BB is going to try to pick one up "once the season starts."

Gymrat needs to spend some time in the class room. His threads always give me headaches. How many times can someone say "Noway" and in reality mean "no way". I kept thinking he was saying Norway or there was a receiver named Noway.

Clearly Andre Johnson should be the main option, if we're trading for a WR...he's a vet, big body, & a big playmaker

You have to take in the salary to account as well, so any established WR is already making decent money and will not fit into our cap exp... Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald. So that rules out a difference maker. Is it worth it to bring in an average wr at this point? Probably not. It would of been nice to get Nicks in here for the deal the Colts got, but we didn't.

So we have to hope our guys stay healthy, at least no season ending injuries. I think they have enough talent catching the ball to win a SB. I would say they are much better off then Seattle was last year. The Pats sank there money and a lot of draft picks into the defense. Can they be as good as Seattle was? IDK, but I'm excited to find out.

I don't think the board could require a minicamp, but maybe an organized board activity.

I dunno what bombshells are out there not yet exploded. You never say never with this front office, I just don't see a blockbuster acquisition coming. We appear to be building to stop other guys much more than to win shootouts.

Noway.....Dude?

I think Ochocinco is available.

A few things come to mind a blockbuster trade for a one or two year rental at a titled starved Andre Johnson the pipe dream unless he takes a major salary cut.

Denarius Moore: a guy who has shown number 1 ability and at the very least can get deep and make a play on some long balls.

Another option is to polish up Justin Blackmon; heck hire Tebow as a morality Counselor and you have a absolute steal. Why not toss a conditional 7th rounder that turns to a 5th if we can help the man and he can help us?

Another option is to look at a team who is loaded with WR depth and will either release or let a guy go at a discount: Belichick's favorite way of shopping.

Then you look at cap strapped teams with hard decisions to make.

Then you turn your attention to the preseason where a handful of undrafted players and second or third year guys buried on depth charts turn heads.

For example the Victor Cruz type of players.

Finally you look at all the young untapped talent the Patriots have in drafted and undrafted receivers and take the guys who have learned your playbook and have had time with your system and have one or two guys develop.

I still have high hope for Boyce and Mark Harrison, and think a guy like Thompkins who has gone through what he has turn his life around get that chance; I am hard pressed to think he will let it go easily.

That's why OTAs, training camp and preseason is in a lot of ways more interesting to me then the actual games.

Of course it all starts with getting in sync and bonding with Brady.

Brown, Branch, Moss, Welker, Edelman all learned this and it paid off in big ways for them.

I will be looking to see which receivers cling to Brady like a lost puppy.

Stinko was a special case.

Almendola seems to have learned the offense.

Justin Blackmon is a disaster and may never play football again, either way I think he has too much going on this season to play so he is not an option in my mind.

The other players you named are no better prospects then Aaron Dobson. What exactly do you have against Dobson that you feel so adamant (in several threads) about us acquiring a wide receiver? He is 6’3” and ran a 4.37 forty with a 35” vertical those are #1 receiver attributes and he proved he could beat coverage at the NFL level last season.

Mallett and Amendola for Andre Johnson.

Anybody who believes Ocho's problem was the playbook is lying to themselves. He was declining before we brought him in. And case anybody hasn't noticed yet he never caught on anywhere else either. So I suppose he couldn't digest anybody's playbook. Funny he had no problem digesting a playbook at 26 yrs old. Get on me for spell check changing my words and being a lazy typed. However you can't figure out ocho was over the hill and couldn't any no longer perform x or z duties. Ocho was my nephews favorite player when he was 7\8 yrs old. When he saw him playing for us he said he got slow. I was shocked he noticed something like that. I felt chad slowed a little but he saw him run one route and saw it. I said Kyler just a little slower right and he replied he is slow now I just thought thats just great.

B6 that's what I was thinking. Is there awhenter wr with more ability than Dobson that might become available. I would be happy with a Brian Quick caliber prospect. This way at least one should make the leap to dangerous status.

Like I stated its not often but teams do trade talent when b4 they leave as free agents or the player/team are unhappy with each other among reasons. For the people who have no life other than the patriots,I apologize if suggesting we could use upgrades at wr crushes your world suggesting our wr's aren't adequate to win a championship. 31 other teams players are getting payed to. To win it all means being the best. If we don't hoist that beautiful trophy once again where it belongs showing we are the absolute best for the first time in a decade. Then football isn't worth watching. If it shows early that our offense is lacking and winning the Lombardi trophy is less likely then what good is watching. I don't care to watch another playoff buttkicking.

As long as Brady is zinging passes, the championship should be expected. And he only needs one more piece around him to make everybody on this offense more dangerous and better secure a championship trophy. It sure beats HE!! Out of hoping and wishing EVERYBODY on this team can have a career best year. Which is possible but unrealistic to expect. Besides once Brady declines there is no garuntee we even win our division anymore much less fully expect a championship trophy. So let's take our shots.

Chad Ochocinco admitted he never grasped Patriots playbook | Pro Football Talk

While I agree he was declining physically, there's no question he didn't grasp the playbook.
