Talib on P.Manning vs Brady

Meh, let Talib talk. Now that he's got his big contract, he's going Haynesworth.

Big suprise him going with Manning, almost as suprising as the yeast infection that kept him out the AFCC

The Forehead just had the best season EVER by a QB.....and you fault Talib for agreeing??
The Forehead lost three games last year. If you have the best season ever by a QB, you don't loose any games! We know which QB did not loose any games in a season!!!!

If Talib remained with the Patriots he would have said Brady. He's being a good little trooper and spewing company line.

I agree with you. I loved Talib when he was here, but I knew all along he was an ***hole. I just pretended he wasn't. It was easy. Just as it's now easy to see he was one. No harm, no foul...

I hold no ill will toward Talib. Sure, he appeared to possess some fine soft tissue ailments but he generally played well in New England. He left for a contract most if not all players would take and remains on an AFC Championship contending team.

The simple reality is the Patriots up skilled from Talib to Revis. Really, there's no loss in this transaction whatsoever.

Well considering such a good seat he had to watch the AFCCG i think he may have some valid points. what with his not injured at all hip causing him to miss over 3 quarters of the game, causing peyton to play against almost an entire 2nd string defense, while tom played vs mostly first stringers.

Talib is such a *****, i sincerely hope minitron wrecks his hip this year with a "legal pick play" that all the media folk seemed to enjoy from welker.

of course knowing the media and the NFL JE will get a 6 game suspension and the pats will lose 1st round draft picks for cheating or some such ********.

You are correct. He was terrible in the SB, but 55 TD's to 10 picks, 342 YPG and a 115.1 Rating is hard to argue against. I can't wait for him to come to Foxboro again for obviously the biggest game of the regular season in the entire NFL.

Throw stats out the window for Nov. 2. We again get to witness the 2 greatest QB's to ever play. I'm old school and can pay homage from Otto Graham to Unitas to Staubach to Bradshaw to Montana et al. In this QB ruled era these are the 2 best. No question.

I relish this game first week of Nov. and am confident we see them again the last week of January. This is what football, and sports, are all about. I love to hate Peyton as much as any NE fan, but it's only because he's so good. Bring it. Our guys clock is ticking to.

Sox-Yanks, B's-Canadiens, Celtics-suck right now, yeah. Give me Broncos-Pats @ Foxboro. Look around the entire sports world. This game is circled on every calender. If it's not have the nurses aid check your pulse.

Added my vote for Brady. You should too! Just follow the OP's link.

As for Talib's comments, I thought they were pretty balanced. The poll is for the top players last season and Talib was pretty careful to put his "vote" in that context: "Peyton had an awesome year. He tore it up! He like set the record for touchdowns and beat Tom in the AFC Championship. You got to give it to Peyton." Looking just at last season, that's not an unreasonable position to take.

I also liked how he handled the Revis issue, throwing in a bit of humor by using one of BB's favorite expressions "it is what it is."

The only thing he said with which I take issue was his comment about the Welker hit. It looked intentional to me, but, then again, Talib had a pretty good view of the play. :)

Nothing to see here. I saw the interview. He gave them both their due respect. He said "Obviously I gotta go with Peyton man, he's my teammate!" He said it in a joking manner but the impression he left was, you're splitting hairs...theyre to of the best ever.

Did you read/comprehend anything in this thread before you hit reply?
Comprehend? Its never that difficult to comprehend the sentiments on this board. Brady is God. Brady is the greatest. And if someone strays from the message, they shall be shoved to the stockades for public condemnation.
So what have I read here. Lets start with Talib's quote...""I mean, Tom is my good friend of mine, but Peyton had an awesome year. He tore it up! He like set the record for touchdowns and beat Tom in the AFC Championship. You got to give it to Peyton." COMPLETE BLASPHEMY right? I read a non-inflamatory statement supported by facts and I personally agree with his conclusion.
Then I read the reactions...
Reaction #1......"
"""Why can't these NFL players be humble? The appropriate answer would be something like:
"Tom and Peyton are both great Quarterbacks in their own right. I'm happy to say I've worked with two of the best to ever play the game." Just seems more respectful to his former teammate."""
.....the politically correct response is always a feel good moment , isn't it. But Talib opted instead to make a choice. On this board, giving an answer that doesn't include the words Tom Brady=greatest leads to ......
Reaction #2......
"""I would not expect Talib to say Brady. He is a member of the Denver Broncos.""""
A fair argument. Who can argue that Talib isn't playing to the crowd. But Talib's statement includes supporting arguments lauding Manning....so the facts of the statement have to get weighed. Which leads to....
Reaction #3......
Character assassination (a favorite Boston past time when players move on to new teams)
"""I loved Talib when he was here, but I knew all along he was an ***hole. I just pretended he wasn't."""
...and...
"""Meh, let Talib talk. Now that he's got his big contract, he's going Haynesworth."""
...And then it gets confusing because the Anti-Manning message strays in multiple directions...
Reaction #4...
..."""The Forehead lost three games last year. If you have the best season ever by a QB, you don't loose any games! We know which QB did not loose any games in a season!!!!""""
So we now know ...A) NFL games are a one on one competition ...and B)incorporating 2007 statistics into an argument comparing 2013 seasons is not only allowed but expected
.....and since the "career" can of worms has been opened up, I'd like to toss in this this tidbit...In the decade since NE last won a SB, Brady is 0 for 2 in title games and Manning is 1 for 3.
""""I have never seen Tom lose a playoff game by himself, to be fair he hasn't always played well enough to win the game, but Tommy sure as sh!t never lost the game.""".... 1st snap bumble leads to safety. Deep Gronk pass into triple coverage, under thrown. The Pats did put up 17 and 14 points in their last to SB visits.

I am mildly surprised several posters actual have come forth with similar conclusions to mine.....
"""Actually it was a smart answer. Not much to debate if you look at the one season"""
and
"""As for Talib's comments, I thought they were pretty balanced. The poll is for the top players last season and Talib was pretty careful to put his "vote" in that context..... Looking just at last season, that's not an unreasonable position to take.""""...........No its not.....at least for some

Just seems more respectful to his former teammate.

Didn't Wes Welker say something exactly like that?

Borges, you might be 95% correct here.. and while I would hate for you to miss out on an opportunity to feel superior, let me explain to you the way less evolved humans think.

Objectively, Peyton had the better season.. absolutely. Most fans "get" that.

But it's a sore point with us. Why? Because we also know Tom had a great season too. But you intellectual football observers don't give him his due.

His best, most experienced receivers played only handful of games and everyone else was a rookie.. and they had their own nagging injuries too as we've seen from their collective surgeries come this off-season.

But noone talks about the fact that Tom almost put together a top 5 offense.. playing rookies. People instead point to this season as another sign that Tom is losing it.

Sore point.

That Talib used the AFCG as even the slightest reason that Peyton is better than Tom is another sore point.

Talib didnt even play. He took himself out of the game. He didn't have Tom's back. He didn't have anyone's back.

Presumably because he was injured.

Fine.

But as the Patriot's #1 CB you aren't then allowed to use the game you excused yourself from as any kind of proof that Peyton is better than Brady.

And lets not forget that he *****ed publicly about how his injury got labelled by NE.. and that *****ing got us investigated by the NFL.

Not cool.

Sure, I think its clear that he just wanted to fight the preconception that he had a nagging hip injury.. but throwing the Patriots under the bus to do so was uncalled for and classless.

All of the above is wrapped up in the way people are criticizing Talib's comments. They aren't as "right" as you, but they have their own valid reasons for doing so.

Being a blunt contrarian that loves pointing out the fallacies of peoples subjectivity must bring about a certain level of enjoyment for you.

But I'm unconvinced that its nearly as fun as being a Patriot fan.

I stopped reading this about halfway through because, no, you didn't get the point. More like, you refuse to acknowledge the point because you're just rolling with your usual shtick.

Talib is commenting on which QB won a game. a game he decided to sit out. A game he could have positively impacted. For Talib to pretend that game was Brady vs Manning is disingenuous.

So, before you reply with more 'Manning had a better season last year' crap, understand that isn't the discussion. Manning obviously had the better season. But you can't tell me that Talib using a game he refused to re-enter as a litmus test isn't completely ridiculous.

I wonder how much Talib really liked it here after all was said and done.
