Nick Caserio's draft recap

Agree on Fleming. He can't move. Totally immobile tackles just won't work in the NFL. Supposedly his vertical jump is near 0. He literally can't lift both feet off the ground at once.

I'm exaggerating a little bit for effect, but I thought that was a question mark. I would have taken CJ Fiedorowicz in the 2nd and then Garrapolo in the 3rd and Stork in the 4th. CJ would be good here, great blocker, great hands, not as fast as gronkowski-burger, but good nonetheless.

25.5 inch vertical...that's over two feet....and about a trillion miles from that take of yours.

Who knows how these players will turn out, but to hate on a pick now is stupid. Lets see them play then go from there. I like the focus on the trenches and look forward to seeing Easley next to Armstead and Jones on the pass rush.

That does sound like a nice foundation for the next generation, doesn't it?

I am so tired of the posts that say I would have taken so and so around later than the Patriots did. There is no way that BB and the Patriots, let alone us fans on a messageboard can know that Easley would have been there in the 2nd and Garrappolo would have been there in the 3rd. It is easy to create this amazing draft if we can just assume the guys are all going to go later than they did because some draft magazine printed back in February said they should be there. A lot of people were all over Deone Buchanon as a 2nd round pick and guess what, he went before the Patriots even picked in the 1st, so assume nothing please.

There were plenty of guys who I had highly ranked (as well as the top draft analyst's) that didn't even get drafted. Does than make all 32 teams wrong 7 times over. No, it means they know more about the players and the process than we do.

I have heard for 4 or 5 days now that the Patriots should have taken a safety or TE instead of Garappolo, but except for Fiedorowicz, both positions had been pretty well picked through and that was reflected in the lack of those positions being heavily drafted after that.

I agree.

However, folks are entitled to favor drafting Fiedorowitz (who the patriots has no interest in) and Belichick's choice of quarterback in the 4th instead of White. Given Vereen's injury history and Bolden's inadequate performance as a backup to Vereen, I think that we made the right choice. And yes, Garrapolo was rated way higher than the other quarterbacks, although many had Savage moving up.

Well, no it's about two feet from my take. And it's very, very poor. Very unathletic. Slug like. Sloth like. Like one of those three-toed sloths in the South American rain forest. I think they jump about that high.

I think most couch potatoes could jump 2 feet easily. This guy's a professional athlete? Really?

Morgan Moses, 21 1/2...was projected by some in round 1-2, and went 66th in the draft.

the guys with the 30+ verticals - Matthews, Lewan, etc., were first rounders.

The pick I was most edgy about was Garopollo, but after hearing Cassario, I get why they did it (still not sure I like it, but I get it). They brought him in and ran him through the wringer - hit him with everything mentally and physically to see what he could absorb, how he could adapt, etc. At the end, everyone involved was impressed by his smarts, his willingness to learn and work hard, and his toughness. He clearly really impressed all of them with his ability to "get it" and work his butt off.

I don't know that he'll ever play a down for the Pats - a huge part of me hopes not, at least not on his rookie deal. So the way I look at it, they swapped #62 for the insurance they need to save 3-4 million on the cap each year for the next 4 years. Their measure of Garopollo, clearly, was that he could quickly come up to speed and be ready to run THEIR offense in short order.

It sort of sounds like they want to go with two QBs at roster cut down and Mallett is not one of them. Will be really interesting to see how Garopollo does in the pre-season games.

Feel better, trashing other people you'll never have to face?

Jockey's are professional athletes. Baseball players are professional athletes. I could go on, listing those for whom vertical jump height is largely irrelevant.

Oh so now I can't say anything negative about a player? Only positive comments allowed? You are ridiculous.
