OT: Hernandez indicted in double Homicide back in 2012

An alleged murder and we would be none the wiser. There's not much comfort to be drawn from now knowing that.
AB I am not saying this only because of your post but because I have seen, it said several times, this fan reaction of shock. These players brutalize themselves on the field for fun and profit in front of a national audience; it really does not surprise me that they have the propensity for violence, even murder.

Your first mistake was listening to anything Jim Rome has to say.

I believe you (or perhaps Pissah) said exactly this to me when I complained about something Jim Rome had said.

It's the truth. The guy is a dunce whose show and Twitter personality revolve around shock value instead of real knowledge and/or honest reporting about sports. The OP and other Pats fans basically got trolled and bought it hook, line, and sinker.

It is not a conviction, but after indictment by a grand jury the likelihood of a guilty plea or finding increases exponentially.. in the Federal system there is something like a 93% conviction rate post grand jury, have no idea what it is in Mass., but suspect it is high.
There is an ocean of crime, and only a small portion ever sees the courtroom. Prosecutors, whether state or federal, don't take on cases unless they are very sure of winning them.

I live in R.I AND drive a silver colored SUV. I was as much a suspect as AH prior to his slaying of Odin LLoyd in 2013.

Serial killer is classified as 3 or more murders right?

Wow. That's probably one of the dumbest things that I've ever read. And I've read some pretty dumb things. If the Pats organisation knew about the double murders then of course it would look like uter **** for the organisation. But nothing at all, what so ever, null and nothing points to them having any idea that Hernandez was doing anything close to this.

The idea that the Patriots knew about Hernandez committing a double murder 2 years ago when the police, who had access to all the evidence, didn't know shouldn't merit serious consideration, unless someone is just saying it for attention.

Then again, that could be an explanation for Belichick's failings as a GM; he's spread too thin. Football coach by day. PI by night. Coming this fall to UPN.

Jim Rome ‏@jimrome
Giving Hernandez a $40m contract a few weeks after he allegedly murdered 2 people is not a good look for Kraft and the Hoodie. #PatriotWay.

While in general I agree that Jim Rome is an idiot I do not see an issue with what he said. It was not a good look for Kraft and Belichick.

They made a mistake, generally mistakes look bad for the people making them. I'm not sure what you are expecting people to say, the organization did not do their due diligence with Hernandez and dropped the ball. Hernandez was not acting on the down low, he was pulling drive by shootings downtown of the biggest city in the New England region.

I do not think anyone is saying they knew. I think the consensus is that they should have known. I can see why some would feel this way. It is not as if Hernandez was doing things on the hush. He was shooting up cars in downtown Boston, chasing cars down I-90, dancing on tables with a gun in his waistband, dancing in car lights at gas stations with a pack or blunts in his hand. The kid was about as out about his thuggin as Michael Sam is about being gay.

Not too surprised by this. This guy is only 24! What a psychopath.

Mahloni gave out wicked prahps to ya today Miguel! I still get a little giddy when I hear yah get mentioned. Been a fan since I joined this site in '01. How you do it humbly for charahties with little fanfayah fah so long is a testament to your charactah. In a wohd, you're pissah.:)

In related news the Patriots signed two very interesting and talented undrafted TE's in Tylah Beck from Bowlin' Green and Justin Jones of East Cahrolina. I think one of them makes the rostah.;)

Very intrigued by justin jones

All I will say is that "celebrity" trials in recent years tend to go easier on the defendants (e.g., they still don't have the murder weapon in the Lloyd case).

Good point, ct; however, they do have clear motive now--and that will go a long way.

Really so much potential he had, he threw it all away!

Great point, Darryl--as are all of your thoughts regarding the process due to your field and personal experience.

The state of Massachusetts sees a pretty good portion of their cases prosecuted, as they are much tighter from going through the grand jury process than the majority of states who no longer use it, as you say.

Although the old argument of "you can indict a ham sandwich" still exists due to only hearing one side of things, the whole process seems to force them to dot all of their "i's," while crossing all of their "t's." This of course, leads to a higher percentage of guilty verdicts, as you point out.

Courtesy of a link by Schefter on Twitter, here's a refreshingly sensible take on this senseless situation, by Sally Jenkins of The Washington Post:

Initially, Hernandez’s arrest provoked a number of commentators to associate his violence with NFL. But it doesn’t follow; if there was a real association between football and murder, there would be more Hernandezes. There is a huge difference between men who are talented at a violent game, and a man who is simply, viciously, senselessly violent. If Hernandez is guilty of these additional murders, all it proves is that NFL executives were as fooled as the rest of us by the blankness of his face.

A 29 year-old loving doting mother, whose 7 year-old is friends with my 7 year old, in the same classroom at school, she seemed a perfectly normal woman, who I had coffee with while our children played at the coffee shop near school on several occasions, stabbed her son to death yesterday. I'm sure his teammates knew Aaron better than I knew this woman, but the close friends of this woman are in total an absolute shock today.

Doubt it.
Cops had AH on nightclub camera interacting with the victims
Cops had video of his SUV circling the block as vics were leaving
LATER
Cops find car in uncle's garage & find .38 murder weapon
