It does not look good for Lyerla getting picked up by a team.

At this point I'd go for it.

If he messes up cut him, if he settles in and has grown up we'll have got a very talented player in a position of need. It might leave a bad taste in some mouths and not be the best PR for the Pats but from a sporting perspective it's a real case of nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I just cannot see the team taking that risk. too many red flags.

Seali’i Epenesa, DT, UCLA

Malcolm Butler, CB, West Alabama

Calvin Tonga, NT, Colorado State

NEPatriotsdraft.com now has Tonga listed as a Tryout..

The other two are listed as signings, but may be tryouts as well.

NFW Kraft signs this immature questionable thinking time bomb with CT being way too local
I don't fault him on this

Absolutely not. With how he views what happened with Sandy Hook? I dont care if he was a Hall of Fame player down the road. Do not bring this man aboard.

Prior to the 2014 NFL Draft, the New England Patriots signed 66 players.

The New England Patriots selected 9 players in the 2014 NFL Draft.

The New England Patriots have signed 15 players in the UDFA market.

Roy Finch. All 167 pounds of him.

I think videos are Youtube are deceiving. Finch looks like Barry friggen Sanders in his video, yet couldn't even get drafted.

Sorry folks, I usually don't walk around with no shirt on. Also I kind of let myself go before this picture, I promise to work hard this summer to get back to fighting trim.

The kid looks like muscle on top of muscle...

I still don't see TE Joe Don Duncan signing with anyone yet, kinda surprising.

Finch needs to shift some of that to his lower body. You're not going to upper body out muscle NFL linebackers.

Just a heads up if anyone didn't see yesterday the Vikings signed Tennessee State TE A.C. Leonard.
Leonard (6-foot-2, 252) was a four-star recruit to Florida in 2011, but dropped down a level after two arrests, including one for misdemeanor battery of his girlfriend. He stayed out of trouble in the FCS and caught 85 passes for 1,174 yards (13.8 YPR) and 11 touchdowns in two seasons with the TSU Tigers. At the Combine, Leonard ran a 4.50 forty -- fastest of all tight ends in Indy -- and an eye-catching 10-foot-8 broad jump. He is an explosive, playmaking "move" tight end with long arms (33"). Leonard is someone to monitor in Norv Turner's tight end-friendly offense.

Finch looks like he missed leg day on more than one occasion! Top half makes him look like he's built like a tank though.

The Patriots don't seem to have any interest in local players even as UDFAs. Unlike last
year, they have not signed any high end UDFAs.

Each year, Great Blue Northern has a list of the hundred or so top undrafted players. The
Patriots have the following players from the 2013 list: Barker, Cave, Devey, Kline, Harrison,
and Allen. So far this year, they have officially signed only one, Asa Watson #i10. Not as
aggressive this year especially at TE where they have a dire need.

Only two of the 2013 UDFAs you mentioned were signed in the initial wave of UDFAs. Harrison had already been cut by the Bears before the Pats signed him in the spring and the others were signed midseason. Rosters shuffle around a lot, we could still end up with a few of them down the road, even pretty soon. It's just one list of players, anyway.

I'll quote PFK on this:
2. Why no TE?

If there was ONE universally agreed upon fact from both the media and the fans was that the Pats should take a TE in the first 3 rounds. Well 7 rounds have gone by and we still haven't added one. Why? Here are a couple of suppositions

a. He didn't like the players who were available to him at the time

b. He had a player that he wanted, but he was gone. Of the top 5 TE's only CJ Fedorowicz was available when the Pats chose at #62, and he was gone 3 picks later. Perhaps BB felt that the TE's who were left weren't any better than Hooman or DJ Williams

c. Maybe the speculation that the 2 TE phenomenon was more of a BOB thing than a Josh thing is right, and the Pats will use more 3 WR sets this year as a base so there is no need to carry 4 TE's.

d. They really like Mark Harrison to fill that "move TE role"

e. Gronk's health issues are being overstated

f. Keller will soon be a Patriot

g. Any and all of those things could be facts that led to us not drafting a TE
Any of these could be the answer but I'm leaning towards C or F at this point o_O
