Thanks for the clarification. Drama? Who needs drama with a UDFA. Maybe we're better off.

Well, the Patriots already have 3 on the hook (Beck/Jones/Watson), so it's probably not the issue it could have been. On the other hand, Duncan would probably be considered the best of the 4 heading into OTAs, if he did sign.

It's surprising that the Pats have brought in yet another LS and not, as of yet, any competition/camp legs for Allen or Gostkowski.

I like Joe Don Duncan. The kid looks like a leader for his college team.

just a question...how does ILB Skov (Stan) and Bullough (Mich St) go undrafted. I thought they were both pretty good players?
SKov ran a 5.14-40 and has a huge number of injury red flags which could have turned teams off.

As for Bullough, there could have been more to his Bowl game suspension than was realized..

Draftek had Duncan as its 8th TE, the 154 best player. In any case, he should be good competition for Williams and Harrison for the 3rd WR spot (unless we sign Keller).

Reminder: All reported signings are unofficial until verified by the NFL team. The UDFA period is a notoriously fluid process.

If your using nepatsdraft as "official" this is the disclaimer at top of page.

I read Duncan's name from 4 sources.

IDK. I would assume we have some kind of plan at TE and are not going to depend on an UDFA to be the answer.

a certain TE that has been mentioned a few times on this board is still out there.:eek:;)

Duncan might actually be competitive with Williams and Harrison. I agree that he has the best chance of making the 53. As I recall, Draftek had us drafting Duncan in the 7th.

For a part time player in college, Finch sure has an impressive highlight reel:

One of the more exciting reels I've seen, edge of your seat moves on this kid. Read a report mentioning he got into Stoopes' doghouse for some reason(effort/attitude/practice), which seems indicative of him losing his spot at one point to a walk on. If he smartened up all that is behind him, he puts in the work he could be special, he clearly has the goods.

Finch was a heralded 5 star recruit when he arrived at Norman. There was a lot of complaining on OK sports radio about how Stoops handled the kid, with most people wanting to see more of him

That's some exciting highlights. He's got a crazy burst, excellent balance and extraordinary lateral movement. But he's tiny. Everything I've read lists him as less than 170 lbs. It's hard to imagine him excelling at pass protection.

I am going to predict that at least 1 UDFA will be a contributer for the pats. they always find some gems

Morris competition at LB is ST players.

James Morris, LB, Iowa - A predictable signing by the Patriots. Each year they seem to sign at least one UDFA from Iowa and Morris is the Hawkeye’s best undrafted player. A team captain that had four years of strong production in the Big Ten. Morris can play in the middle or slide out to Weakside Linebacker and he projects as a Special Teams standout. He’s a little undersized, at 6’1″ 241, but he ran in the 4.6-4.7 range and has strong football instincts. Looking at the Patriots LB depth chart, Morris has a good chance to win one of the final roster spots, especially if he shows well on Special Teams.

Really enjoyed that thanks. Great balance - couple plays in there where he takes a hit but doesn't get knocked "down" so he kept the play alive.

I was also impressed with the spin moves he did - kept the ball in close to his body instead of sticking it out where it's likely to get punched out. I looked but can't find any data on how many fumbles he's had in his career - granted he's only had 262 carries his entire 4 year career (5.5 carries per game).

I had a similar thought about his size and slashing style. Great to see him knife through college DL's but the NFL is full of very good tacklers and 5'7" 167 (source) isn't confidence inspiring. Wonder if he could get a Jeff Demps style NFL redshirt if they like him but need him to gain mass.
