If Roby's a player, that probably makes the Broncos the clear AFC favorite, and I like what the Steelers did, especially if Archer can survive in the slot.

I question his ability. Seems like every highlight of a Big 10 receiver from last year has them torching OSU. Roby had to have been on the field somewhere

What the likely competition has done in days 1 & 2

Pittsburgh:

Shazier
Tuitt
Archer

Baltimore:

Mosley
Jernigan
Brooks
Gillmore

Denver:

Roby
Lattimer
Schofield

Indy:

Mewhort
Moncrief

Cincy:

Dennard
Hill
Clarke

NYJ:

Pryor
Amaro
McDougle

The Pats need to go 7-9 next year so they can get a draft class like the Steelers and Jets

John Urschell at 105. He will be an immediate upgrade at C and is a Patriots type of player.

Archer will get 10 touches a game and do damage. He doesn't need to be a full time slot guy. Change of pace RB, amazing return man, and catch a few passes. But very explosive and strong for his size. a GREAT draft choice. I would have felt a little better if WE had picked him.

Archer's a fumbling machine. If he gets 10 touches a game. I'm betting at least 1 ends up with the other team.

"Does damage" to the opponents with 9 carries. Does damage to his own team with the 10th. Sounds like a wash. :D

Denver was scouting a basketball forward.who hadn't played football in college. Pats should draft him in the 6th just to mess with them.

I am amused and amazed by the whiners on this thread. Doesn't anyone remember Bobby Grier and his great drafts which helped to ruin the team before BB came in.
Bingo we have bingo.........I swear its the same every year.......with the X pick of the XXXX draft the patriots pick <fill in a name> and the majority of "draft experts" on this board start with the BB doesn't know sh*t. Really? Then how is it they have remained atop the division and in the playoffs year after year? Yeah Tom Brady was a large part of it but he wasn't all of it. This is a team sport and why the Patriots are so good is because their bottom 10-15 players are better than many other teams........The draft is a 50/50 crap shoot. The Patriots spend millions of dollars a year to evaluate talent the draft experts here spend $5.95 on a draft book or subscribe to ourlads or MelKiper.com and think they know more than the Pats......that is simply comical. I get it, its your opinion and you are entitled to it, but it doesn't make it right or wrong it simply makes it your opinion. No one gets it 100% right 100% of the time but my guess is the Pats get is right more often than not and more often than anyone on this board.

Every year, the homers act as if the Patriots have never blown a pick, and they get offended because someone doesn't like a player that BB has taken. We end up with ridiculous comments like "Doesn't anyone remember Bobby Grier and his great drafts which helped to ruin the team before BB came in.", because those homers apparently didn't learn from the 2006-2009 drafts.

It's ridiculous, but it's part of the draft every year.

wouldn't surprise me one bit after THIS debacle.
And Joe Kerr officially joins the Chicken Little crowd.. Never thought I'd see the day.

Is that what you THINK Brady is...THAT?...are you magically going to come up 3.5 more inches, an over the top throwing motion, a bigger frame and longer arm?

Here's what we can do...I say this bust is just that...another Chad Jackson screwup in the 2nd round...YOU can bang your pom poms all day and night for the next few years until this Clausen clone is gone.

So he's automatically Jimmy Clausen? Why can't he be one of Aaron Rodgers, Steve Young, Kurt Warner, Joe Montana, or Brett Favre? They're all 6'2. Why does he have to be Jimmy Clausen?

Thus making my point, that it would be better to use the 3rd pick. I understand giving enough tries some luck happens, but that is a gamble. Our whole draft, so far, has been gambles. Will Easley longevity hold up? Will Mallet be traded? Will Jimmy be Tom's successor? We need a few safer picks at some point.

There are no such things as "safer picks". If you've learned anything through watching the draft and NFL seasons you should know that ANYONE at ANYTIME can get hurt and have their career derailed. Tyrone McKenzie is a perfect example. Was never injured in college. Came in. Tore his ACL after looking great and was never the same again. And that is just one example. You can find them for every team around the league..

One of the things about Garoppolo that people don't seem to be considering is that his QB guru got his training plan directly from Tom Martinez. For people needing a reminder, Tom Martinez was Brady's coaching guru. So, I feel confident that Garoppolo has a decent shot at stepping in one Brady calls it a career.

I call BS. Pryor was a great pick and so was Jace Amaro. Amaro's gonna be a stud. Only Patsfans are too stupid to see that. Enough's enough, you can have a thread about the Jets sucking, but at least they use the draft to help fix their weaknesses unlike us. Honestly, BB didn't have to show up to work today and we could have done better.

Then go root for the Jets so we don't have to listen to your whining anymore. FGS. The draft isn't about thinking for this year. It's about the long game. A long time poster like yourself shouldn't have to be told that.

There is no way in hell the Pats draft Colt Lyerla, that would actually be a good move, and this Patriot's 2014 draft is about making bad moves.

Really? Drafting a Coke-head like Lyrela is a GOOD Move?

I can't remember the last pick where a majority of the people on this board actually liked in the hours/days after the pick. At least not in rounds 2-5. I know Jones and Hightower had the majority approval.

I think people were generally on board with both Spikes and Hernandez. Dobson too, IIRC.

We all knew that the Pats needed to dramatically upgrade the interior of the OL. I don't get why anyone's upset that they're spending picks to do exactly that. These guys may actually help the team this year, and they don't even have to become all that great to be upgrades over what's here now.

I cannot disagree with you on that contention. However, and this is just my humble opinion, it appears that the doubters far out number the homers on this site and other sites too. Everyone thinks they are a drafting genius because they watch college ball, bought a few magazines and subscribed to online "expert" sites. For anyone to come on this site and suggest they know better than BB or the personnel crew for the Patriots (or any pro football team for that matter) is simply ridiculous. BB by himself has probably forgotten more football knowledge than everyone of us combined on this site, that doesn't mean he doesn't make mistakes or conversely is perfect, he is not. One thing is for certain though he knows more than any of us and if any of us were so terrific at picking players for pro football teams then why are we all sitting here through the draft and not actually working for a pro football team and making the picks?

This site is ridiculously homer-based.

I don't consider myself a drafting genius at all. That's actually why it's so frustrating watching BB make picks that are so obviously bad (i.e. O'Connell). If I can see it, it's really unforgivable for him not to see it.

This is really the only thing that all these BB defenses need to post. This is a fan site/message board. We're here to talk football, mostly Patriots football, and to offer our opinions on what's happening with our (with the exception of visiting fans) favorite NFL team. If every post needs the "I know BB knows more" opening, there's no sense in Ian keeping the site running. He should sell his hardware and hit the beach.
