I seem to be in the minority, but I'm all for a round 3 QB to groom for a year.
Too early to start grooming a QB IMO, we can wait on that for another draft.
Broncos boards -No discussion about backup QBs
Patsfans.com - panicked about Ryan Fricken' Mallett being traded
So you're saying Broncos fans are stunningly shortsighted?
People here have lost their minds. To read some of the posts on this topic (in some of the many Mallett threads), you'd think that there was no grasping the Patriots offense without 8 years of apprenticeship.
they know, just as we should all be recognizing, that it's SB or bust and SB isn't happening if the backup is under center.

I think that the belief that this draft is weak at the TE position is grossly exaggerated, there is plenty of talent at the TE position, and Niklas and CJF would be selected in the first four rounds of just about any draft. They are both very talented, had good college production and impressive workout numbers.Niklas and Fiedorowicz are just guys. Sefarian-Jenkins or Amaro (who are complete opposites) may be worth a selection if they're available at the end of the round but in a good TE draft guys like Niklas and Fiedorowicz would be mid-round picks. They don't mitigate losing Gronk at all because they're massive dropoffs from Gronk.
I don't see the Patriots picking one of them (or even ASJ/Amaro) over a potential starter on the interior offensive line, for instance.
That is a player we should be targeting, will be available late and has good upside to at least develop into a long term backup QB.Have you seen his play action fake handoffs. He just waves the ball in the general direction of the RB. Terrible. Keith Wenning, on the other hand, has outstanding fakes.
I know this is a common opinion, but it still floors me. Why is a quarterback's health imagined to be all or nothing? What if your quarterback is knocked out for PART of the season, but can return? It happened to Aaron Rogers last year, and with no quality backup the Packers lost a whole string of games in his absence.
I really want to like Matthews but I just cannot, his tape just does not do much for me.He would be a MONSTER in this offense. Brady would have to clean out his jock if we drafted Matthews.
