Per Ed Werder, Mallett is not available for trade.

IMO, this is great news. I think he will be a very good QB after these 3 years behind Brady.

For another team. He will be gone next year unless we give him a large contract with the plan to have him start soon. If he stays here it's because we pay him as much as teams that want to have him fight for a starting spot next year.

Translation: Nobody is offering what the Patriots want.

Or he will be traded sometime tonight. Media reports like this are useless. Last night there were reports that the Bills had no intention of trading Stevie Johnson.

True dat. It's actually pretty funny how teams deliberately use the media to spread disinformation, and how much the media laps it all up. :D

I have zero doubt whatsoever that the Patriots would trade Mallett if the right deal came along so to say he is "not available for trade" is absurd. The only question mark is whether or not that "right deal" appears anytime in the next 48 hours.

Hope this is wrong, a 2nd round draft pick on the lines or at TE will contribute much more this year than Mallett will. If Brady gets injured we're screwed anyway.

I don't think BB would want to go into the year with a green rookie and/or a street FA backing up Brady. It wouldn't surprise me to see them draft a QB, have him learn under Brady and Mallett. If a trade happens, perhaps it would be at the deadline for a late round pick.

You're assuming someone stupid enough to give a 2nd for The Hammah
Would that it were so

IF the Texans dont take a QB at #33, do you think they will go after Mallett??? Just trying to go through every scenario on what could happen, but I dont think Mallett will be traded.

Good call, we don't have a 13 page mallett thread.

Mallett is putrid, please trade him for whatever you can get BB.

You know that repeating something enough times doesn't make it true, right?
Funny, that's what I think whenever I see people talking about getting a 2nd for Mallett.

A 2nd? I wouldn't trade him for anything less than a 1st!! :)

When we hear these reports I think it's important to consider how a team/organization might deal with an intel leak like this one. My guess: once word gets out about a potential trade reporters start asking questions, and those who are part of the organization that leaked info are informed to offer no further detail and/or deny the report. There are a few possible reasons for this approach, one of which is to not ruin the relationship between the organization and the player.

This is what my 2nd comment on Mallett, good one?

Yeah you're right, his play in the preseason isnt indicitive of how good he is lmao. What else should I be basing his skill off of?

The drama continues. I would love to see Mallett stick around and ultimately unseat Brady just to see this board meltdown.

Mallet only unseats Brady if Brady goes into major decline. I'd rather not see that, thanks.

Ed Verder, isn't that singer from nirvana, or something like that? I thought he would cover seattle
