I don't agree with this article. This is the first "gamble" the Pats have taken that I've actually liked. (I never loved Ras-IR, didn't even like McCourty if I'm being honest, etc.)

That said, I do think it presents a contrary argument very well. I was surprised I didn't agree when I finished reading, but I guess even the most miserable of fans (myself) sometimes has hope!

Guys-

Check out this Youtube interview after the LSU game in 2012. Really shows what kind of guy he is in terms of being competitive. Strongly recommend watching this.

Mean SOB. Love it. Too many milk drinkers on that team right now...much needed injection of a whiskey drinker.

This and the Miami game are both incredible... real difference maker even when he is getting double teamed!

Yikes, not liking that at all. Looks like an occasional impact play, mitigated by a combination of getting pushed off the LOS consistently and overpursuing and opening up running lanes when he does get into the backfield.

Granted, opening up running lanes is just the negative byproduct to all of the positives that a penetrating DT brings. I was hoping for Henry Melton this offseason, and he would've created the same problem. Philosophically, I do think that the Pats need to be willing to make a concession of sorts on gap integrity--at least situationally--to create interior pressure against pocket passers. In that light, I like that they have a guy like this finally. Hopefully the reports that Easley has used his rehab time to add strength and put on some muscle are correct, because if he can put on 15 pounds and anchor better without losing that burst, he could be awfully good.

he seems quick but he's not overpowering guys. Seems like he could be decent but I'm not getting my hopes up. There wasn't another guy available that I really wanted so I guess taking the guy with the most upside is cool although that's the opposite of what they normally do in round 1.
Yeah, I really wanted Stephon Tuitt, I think he will be a better pro. Look how explosive and how he can get after the QB.

Tuitt is injured worse than Easly right now

He's got a Jones Fracture that wasn't discovered until the combine medicals.

Here's the big thing with that particular injury

If a Jones fracture fails to unite (malunion or non union), which is a common problem with these fractures, it can become a chronic condition. If this is the case, podiatrists will likely recommend that the patient spend more time in a cast, up to twenty weeks.

For several reasons, a Jones fracture often does not heal. The diaphyseal bone, where the fracture occurs, is an area of poor blood supply. In medical terms, it is a watershed area between two blood supplies. This makes healing difficult. In addition, there are various tendons, including the peroneus brevis and fibularis tertius, and two small muscles attached to the bone. These may pull the fracture apart and prevent healing.

Interesting stuff, thanks for the info. Anyone know of an athelete ever successfully coming back from this injury ?
