It's After Midnight - Time To Discuss Day 2

Ideal
ASJ
Richburg

Although some will call it a reach I would be more than happy with
Jordan Tripp
Christian Jones
Yep, people would go ballistic claiming 3rd or 4th value. But I'd be happy.

I'm also on board with Hyde,Sankey and Mason if they choose to go that route.

I think our next pick will be interior OL or LB. I could also see a CB or RB if one of crazy value presents itself. Bishop Sankey comes to mind.

if BB really is selling out on an explosive attacking defense, a smaller quick pass rusher like Attoachu has to be a possibility. Marcus Smith would have been ideal.

Easley could start on PUP if we really want to wrap him in cotton wool but I think it's unlikely. He got the all clear from doctors a couple of weeks ago and was said to be at 80% at his pro day a month ago. He should be ready to go by training camp and definitely September.

Gordy Gronkowski advised him to take his time.

Houston is on the elongated clock...With Carr, Savage and Garroppolo all there unless they're in love with one of them I think they trade down. Since they made no attempt to move up in the first just in case I have to believe they're not. If they stick they could go with Nix, Morgan Moses, Bitonio or XSF.

I say they trade down but if they don't I'm going to say they take Nix. Romeo will make good use of him and loves having a big body. I think they'll go QB later.

There are at least a couple of RB's with first round grades. I suspect that there will be value at the end of the 2nd and certainly at the end of the 3rd. I don't see a great value being there at corner.

One can only hope for the right OL to be there. Linebackers will be available.
Bucky Brooks has us getting Tre Mason in his second round mock.

Jarvis Landry, Bruce Ellington and Kevin Norwood are three that interest me with the round three pick.
I suspect that a RB or QB will be the best value at 62.

Carr is the highest value on the board. The question is whether HOU would dare to take Carr.

I suspect that the choice is a QB (Garrapolo) unless they are trading with someone for a QB,

And I'm guessing no since they knew teams could have leapfrogged them to get him at the bottom of the first.

The 2nd round is going to be painful to watch. In the 1st round, there were obviously 20-25 we never even thought we had a shot at, but there's so many names in the 2nd we've been salivating over for months. It's going to be sad watching them go to other teams :(

It is going to be fascinating watching players drop down the second but then getting picked off one by one as we near number 62. hopefully there'll be one or two left by the time we pick.

I'll be annoyed if we go RB tonight, simply because the draft is loaded with RB's and we could get good ones later on... I hope tonight we come away with 2 of the following (only one TE)

ASJ, Amaro, Troy Niklas, CJF, XSF, Weston Richburg, Marcus Martin, Allen Robinson, Demarcus Lawrence, Kareem Martin, Marqise Lee, Kyle Van Noy, Lamarcus Joyner, Kevin Norwood, Jordan Tripp, Telvin Smith, Trai Turner, Joel Bitonio, Gabe Jackson, Terrence Brooks

Imagine the potential of the Texans DL if they draft Hageman at 33 and he works out. Hageman-Watt-Clowney-Mercilus. Holy crap!

Who do they have on the nose? Anybody better than Nix?

They have one NT on the roster, Jerrell Powe. He was out of the NFL most of last season before playing 1 snap in week 16 and 39 snaps in week 17 for the Chiefs. So yes, I think Nix is the right pick there unless they think they can pick another guy and trade up for Nix. They need an upgrade badly.

If we were to draft a LB, what style of LB would you want? I'm thinking someone similar to Mayo, but a bit faster and better at covering. Which LB do you think that would be?

Wouldn't want to be an offensive line going up against them or St Louis now. lol

Some guys I'll be keeping an eye on:

-Sua -Filo
-Terrance Brooks
-Brock Vereen
-Weston Richburg
-Marcus Martin
-Jace Amaro
-ASJ
-Troy Niklas
-Demarcus Lawrence
-Kyle Van Noy
-David Yankey

Definitely a lot of talent still left and should be a real good player available at our pick.
