Where do the draft picks get their money before they are signed by a team?

One guy bought his mother a pick Cadillac others show up dressed in $3,000 suits, are they fronted money buy their agents or where do they get it?

Good question. Also, some of these guys have tons of tattoos, which cost a lot (at least $250 each). And always sporting expensive massive watches with jewels on them at the draft. NCAA sports is such a farce.

Agents and/or boosters.

I would think that as soon as they declare for the draft they could sign sponsorship deals. Also think that the suits are lended/given to them as promotion now that they are interwieved and asked what they are wearing. Just like actors/actresses for big galas.

Most of these guys have already signed with the major apparel companies so they have already started making bank. All of the top QB's signed with Nike so that is where Bridgewater got the money to buy his mom a car. Clowney signed with Puma, Watkins with Adidas and a bunch of others have already signed lucrative deals with the big 4 (Nike, Adidas, Under Armour and Puma). I think some of the top guys might even get a bonus if when they sign with their agents as an incentive. I think the rediculously expensive watches and other stuff is way over the top and part of the reason why so many of these guys go broke so quickly but I'll never criticize anyone for buying their mom a car. I think Brandon Cooks was especially cool when he paid for it with the $100k he won with the fastest time at the combine wearing I think Adidas.

Loans and cash advances.

The kid who bought his mother a Mercedes (Brandon Cooks, WR, Oregon State), he won $100,000 from Adiddas for recording the fastest 40 time at the combine. The rest of them, take out "loans" from their agents. I bet those "loans" get paid back at the same rate and frequency as your kids pay you back when they "loan" money.

There's lots of cases of Agents suing players to recover this money, but usually only if the player drops the agent for a different agent. Dez Bryant and DeSean Jackson come to mind.

That's probably even sometimes used as an incentive to get the player to sign with the agent. Whoever offers them the most loan money.

"Check and Go" or "Advance America".........

There have been a number of reports over the years that prospects come into their rookie year saddled with debt from loans (usually set up by or through the agent) and some of these guys have most of their first year pay go towards paying back the loans and fees.

Beyond the cars, clothes etc a lot of these guys have specialized training programs to get ready for the Combine or pro days. That stuff costs a lot of money.

Agents will give them money or gifts. If they hit on a player they can get cut for a decade and you only have to do it for the stud 1st rounders
