I guess you know better than NFL.com

I guess I do. Funny how quickly the captain of the anti-Belichick brigade turns to appeals to authority when they suit him.

I guess you know better than Bill Belichick, einstein.

Can we let the kid play before judging his knees and all that.? Iam sure pats did their research ,more than we do.
hopefully not by their last Dr.

how do you know his knees aren't stronger than they were before? just because he gets ACL surgery doesn't mean his knees are mush.

Why is it that people here refuse to read?

Is it possible that his knees are stronger than Superman's knees ever were? Sure, let's say it's possible.

It's a needless gamble in round one. It's not as if the NFL boards are now all bereft of talent.

I hope to wake up tomorrow to find out the Pats are picking at 33. (Then trading it)

Ugh, two torn ACLs? Played 3 games last year, was out 13 games. Another injury-prone inexplicable first-rounder. Flashbacks of Ras I Dowling.

Pretty frustrated with this pick, was hoping for a WR.

Right, his career is over because of acl tears. Just ask Welker and Peterson about those things. Guy was a monster in a football uniform and will be again for the New England Patriots. Pretty psyched myself.

I don't have a link but after the selection I thought Kiper said Easley was a second or third rounder "at best."

Nope, no way. Easley was consistently projected as a 2nd rounder, and always with the proviso that "if his health checks out he could make it into the 1st."

He also has no hands and body catches. That's why he is falling.

Thank god we didn't take that bust.

I'm warming up to the Easley pick a bit.

I hope Easley is a beast, but to deny Lee would help our receiving corps is crazy.

Brady is still throwing to smurfs and guys who have cases of drops as well. In our offense, Lee's YAC would be great. But agree to disagree, now we hope Easley and Gronk's knees hold up :)

Typical belichick-ean type of pick.....and another complete WHIFF!......They really shouldnt let BB do the drafting at all anymore. All analysts are saying "wow this guy has had double ACL surgeries....tremendous reach ....would have been there in 3rd or even 4th!....great job Bill!

Well apparently Seattle wanted him bad and we got em. On twitter they're saying they packed up shop after the easley selection. Explains their trade

I always thought he was a second rounder for the Pats because he's a liability against the run. However, he has an elite first step - it's unholy good and he's going to put plenty of pressure on the QB. Chandler Jones' sacks will go up too. Mayo and Hightower will need to stay healthy though because RBs will just run straight past Easley. For an offense wanting to get more aggressive, it's a great pick and QBs will be on their heals almost right from the snap. Revis will be happy.

"The most impressive skill Easley possess is how quickly he explodes off the line of scrimmage. While Easley is not particularly big for his position, he has great strength and versatility, and he is skilled at shedding blocks.

That explosiveness allows Easley to fire his gaps quickly and easily split double-teams. Even the strongest offensive lines in the SEC had trouble keeping up with Easley’s first three steps, and he caused constant havoc in opposing backfields."

i'm not as worried about how he plays against the run. we need a pass rusher to go along with jones and ninkovich, easely is just that. They have tommy kelly, vince, hightower and mayo to stop the run.

This is for Kontra and Mayoclinic just in case he's lurking.

FWIW, I'm sure that with the level of investment a 1st rounder commands the team did their homework on Easley. It's also worth noting that BB has taken 4 defensive linemen in the 1st round, three out of the four have gone to pro bowls, one is a hall of famer, one is a team hall of famer, and the last is arguably the best young player on the defense. He doesn't miss on first round DL.

Guys shut up about the wrs. As if there weren't a round 2 and 3 tomorrow. And we could get b Coleman in the 4th. And he's no surf gentlemen

If Seattle were targeting Easley, that is a good thing. They have had very good drafts in recent years.

I hear you, but it's a gamble on a genuine impact player -- IMO one of only 2 penetrating DLs of that description in this draft.

So at DT we had a choice between:

High ceiling talent with glass knees (Easley)

or

High ceiling talent that's raw/inconsistent (Hageman)

I still would have preferred the most pro ready WR in the draft. I agree with Deus overall on our draft pick. It's an unneeded risk to take in round 1 of one of the deepest drafts in the last 10 years.
