NFL: Patriots Cleared After Investigation Into Falsified Injury Reports | NESN.com

The New England Patriots will not be punished after Aqib Talib and Brandon Spikes accused their former team of falsifying injury reports.

The NFL investigated the matter and cleared the Patriots, a league spokesman told The Boston Globe’s Ben Volin.

And that, as they say, is that. Talib, VERY CLEARLY, grabbed his hip after coming up lame in the Saints game and the helmet on the ground frustration indicates that it was more than likely a recurring problem. That's part of the reason why I'm happy the Pats are playing the Broncos later in the season as Talib, as sure as the grass is green, will aggravate that hip before that game.

Aww poor PFT, remember when Florio tried turning it into Spygate 2: Electric boogaloo?

It's a shame that this even had to be investigated really.

NFL whitewash claims by opposing team fans due to lack of detail in report in 5 . . . 4 . . . 3 . . . .

I don't know about the Broncos game, Kontra. What's the over/under on Welker and Talib colliding with each other in warmups and both being carted from the field before the actual game?

Actually, here is Florio's story (note: fake story):

Despite Suspicions of Wrong Doings, League Office Unable to Unccover Hard Evidence Of Cheating

The NFL announced today that they are dropping their investigation of cheating by the Patriots on their clear violation of falsifying injury reports on Aqib Talib and Brandon Spikes. Per a league source, the NFL is convinced the Patriots cheated but were unable to find clear evidence.

"Those guy definitely cheated, " a league source said, "They are just really good at covering it up."

So he's got in his snide comment after trying to make it into a big deal prompting the NFL to look into it in the first place. Par for the course for Florio that is.

Sorry, but I should have labeled it as a joke.

For anyone grounded in reality, this should come as no surprise.

Well its also interesting to note that Pats physician decided to ahem... spend more time with his family this season. But to insinuate that the team had anything to do with it, classic witch hunting to satisfy ...... (you fill in the blanks)

nothing to see here, lets move along

Is this really that big of a deal......how the hell can they call it cheating ........

In what way do the Patriots benefit from falsifying injury reports? I mean seriously HOW? Wouldn't it help us to have Talib out there instead of Arrington, and I'm sure Spikes not being healthy with Mayo gone already was all part of BBs master plan to make us more competitive(well at least not on passing downs)

I guess it is right this shouldn't surprise me. Anything to bring us down. No evidence means it never occurred and Spikes and Talib need to stop acting like butt-hurt sour grapes.

and Florio is a wet fart to say the least

Tell an opponent a player has a sprained ankle, and the opponent will test the ankle. Tell him it's a thigh bruise, and he'll act differently.

This is the flip side of being a champion year in & year out. Those who aren't in such a position become jealous and look for ways to "bring them down a notch or two".

Talib could've stayed but he's doing his Asante impression and Spikes..... well, Spikes needs to look in a mirror if he has problems with New England.

And Florio? I'd tell him to bite me, but I can't remember if all my shots are up to date.

VERY possible with the ducks Manning throws - although that would be DURING the game.

Injury reports are the stupidest thing in all sports.

They should have just waited until either of those players ends up on their team's injury report with their respective yearly issues. Perhaps Talib will grab his hip again then claim it's a shin bruise.

I was thinking along the same lines. Personally, I'm waiting for Spikes to tank. Karma, she's a beyatch, you know? :)

If your intent is to protect your players, then BB does a textbook job of that and gains even more respect in my book.

I wish he would just answer every injury question with "It's not life threatening".

That is the craziest part of this "controversy." How were the Patriots pulling a fast one on their opponents by reporting their injured players as injured and having them miss time (Spikes in the playoffs, Talib in the regular season)?

Spikes never disputed that his knee was injured. He thought he could treat it with rest and rehab and come back to play. The Patriots opted to put him on IR. I think the fact that the injury occurred in the regular season finale played a role in that decision. After the bye week, NE would be playing elimination games. I could them wanting to avoid having a guy taking up a roster spot who may or may not be able to play.

Talib claimed his quad was hurt, while the Patriots listed it as a hip injury. Since the upper quad connects to the hip, they could both be right. I think it would be ridiculous if injury reports are going to be required to be that hyper-specific. It's not like the Patriots were saying it was a wrist injury while it was really an issue with his leg.
