Not that it wasn't expected, but good deal. Hopefully he's improved his upper body strength.

Excellent! Not surprising but awesome none the less!

Can we extend him before the 5th year option? 7 mil is a pretty big cap hit especially when we need to extend McCourty, Revis, Slater, Gost, Vereen in the next year year and a half.

My guess is we have a tough call coming with Mankins and Connolly.. obviously we don't have a lot of known depth at OL but some people have mentioned Connolly could be a cap casualty this offseason or at least a candidate for a pay cut. Mankins has cap hits of 10+ million the next two seasons as well

He doesn't get enough credit for the job he does. We've had it so lucky with him following 10 years of Matt Light I think most of us take it for granted how lucky Brady's career has gone with the most important guy on the field protecting his blind side.

I wish I had some 6-8 320 lb dude watching my back when I have a couple too many at the bar and flap my gums. Just sayin'.

Underappreciated, without a doubt.

I'm not sure if I get the "underappreciated" thing. He's a LT who was drafted 17th and his play has been consistent with that draft position. He's one of the better LTs in the league, and most every analyst and fan I've heard speak of him acknowledge this. O Linemen generally don't receive the fanfare of "sexy" positions like QB, WR, CB, DE or reverse cowgirl.

Yup! don't get beat and no one notices. get beat once and many fans want to cut the player.

Solder is not as funny as Matt Light. Can't shoot as well either.

exactly, Solder seems to get a lot of crap from fans whenever he gets beat but he is a very very good left tackle. O-line is a place that fans dont really know anything about and its not a position that has many stats. That's why crappy O-line players always go to the pro bowl.

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere on this site so I thought I'd post the information.

"The New England Patriots have exercised their fifth-year option on left tackle Nate Solder, according to CBSSports.com.

Solder, the Patriots’ first pick and 17th overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, is now projected to make $7.438 million for the 2015 season."
