I have attached my Patriots specific horizontal big board. There are a total of 130 players on there right now. I would love some feedback on players I have on there or players I am maybe missing, or if you agree or disagree with where I have them round wise.

E1 means early rd. 1
M1 means middle rd. 1
L1 means late rd. 1
so on and so forth. Please, any feedback would be much appreciated.

I'm going to need some time to digest this, but some initial thoughts that jumped out at me:

1. I think you have Easley way too high. I will be amazed if they take him in the first round, never mind trade up for him. His injury issues and his lack of ideal size make him a round two guy at most as I see it.

2. Small thing but you have Exum listed as a ILB.

3. My personal view is that your linemen are a little off. I'd have Pamphile, Urschel, Leno, Wesley Johnson and Patchan all on my big board. That would look to the biggest area where we would differ. But each to their own as it were.

Excellent work again though.

I noticed the Exum issue as well. Obviously he is supposed to be one column over. As for Easley, just because he has a early 1 grade(too me) does not mean that the Patriots should trade up. I know I am in the minority when it comes to Easley, and I honestly think he will be there at 29 if not further down, but when it comes time for the Patriots to pick, whether at 29 or lower, if he is still on the board, this represents the best value IMO.

As for the lineman, thank you for bringing those names to my attention, a couple of them I have not seen yet and the others I most certainly will give a 2nd look at.

Nice work, a lot of thought went into this.

WR at pick 62 looks like a real quality spot. Robinson, Moncrief (love this kid), Robinson, Matthews, these are all quality players that could be worth a long look,

Very nice work, midwestpatsfan.

I appreciate the work that's gone into this and it has some very interesting rankings. My main question is that I don't quite understand what it is supposed to show? If a player isn't listed, does that mean you do not consider them a fit for the Pats?

I'm not sure base purely on fit why, say, Kony Ealy is a fit but Clowney isn't? Or is it that you don't think we have a chance of getting Clowney/Mack etc so you have left them off.

Aside from this question I have some disagreements with you on rankings but that is entirely subjective, and this isn't a criticism. For example I think:

Barr is just a bad football player and will be a bust. I have him in the 2nd round based purely on his athletic upside but would be scared as hell to take him.

I think Hageman is a late 2nd early 3rd round prospect. See above.

I think Stephon Tuitt is a late 2nd rounder too.

I think Attaochu and Lawrence are upper 2nd/late 1st prospects, and both would be perfect for the Pats.

I think Weston Richburg is a great Pats fit and an early 2nd prospect.

I would also have Marqise Lee on there in the late 1st.

As well as having Jason Verrett as a low 1st, and Jaylen Watkins as a 2nd rounder.

My other point is that it's hard to say that Aaron Donald or Easley, or infact say Nix/Tuitt, are fits for the Pats unless we know what direction they are going in? It was much easier in years past to identify players that fitted the Pats scheme. We honestly have no idea whether they want to move to a more penetrating front or are after a Wilfork replacement. That's what makes this draft so fun I think - they could go in a number of different ways.

Thanks for the comments Zimmy. Yes, I left off some of the upper tier players just because I felt there was no chance the Patriots could get them. Guys like Donald have been all over the place as far as ranking and with his size issues, I thought he was a guy who could potentially fall, so I included him on this list.
As for the rest, rankings are subjective to each person. I am not a huge fan of Lee's game, so for me, I don't have him on my list. Watkins on the other hand is an oversight, I like him too and must have missed him somehow. It seems like the other guys we are close on, same round, maybe just a little higher or lower here and there, so I think that is a good thing.

I have heard rumors and read in several different sources that the NE Pats have significantly less players on their board than the high majority of teams, so this exercise makes a lot of sense.

I think they generally only include players who they feel are obvious fits for both scheme and talent, meaning that they tend to leave players off who wouldn't be able to play in our scheme more than the thought that they leave players off for off the field character concerns. I'm sure there are examples of leaving players off due to character concerns, but I think the scheme fit seems to be an even bigger priority.

As we know, they've certainly taken some players with off the field concerns in the past, although it's possible that Belichick felt that those concerns didn't equate to taking them off our board altogether, whereas other situations and problems DID warrant such a move. I would guess that each individual and situation is handled differently.
