Free agent Sidney Rice is visiting the Jets.

Better the Seahawks than the Jets.

While I don't think any of the moves individually are that great, the fact that the Jets have now signed a talented running back, a good wide receiver, and a decent quarterback, makes them intriguing. They always have a fair to good defense, so it makes sense they're trying to load up the offense. Just a question of whether all the pieces will fit together the way they hope (my early guess is no, they won't).

Johnson is nothing like he once was. And their Qbs still suck. Until they get a good QB..then i will worry

Not expecting much for C1K, but it is a low risk move for the Jets.

CJ days are long gone. So many of his runs seem to go for 1-2 yards..here or there is a homerun...but not often enough

The Jets certainly didn't get worse, so I'd expect them to compete for a wildcard spot, along with possibly MIA as well.

Both were at 8-8 last year, so I'd expect that to be some kind of guesstimate for this season too. I do agree with others that their QB spot needs to be upgraded, but in the meantime their defense and running game may be enough to keep them in it.

Jets were concerned about CJ's knee but not enough to not sign him.

We all thought LT was done when he went to the Jets. I think CJ is younger than LT was. The way Rex likes to pound it I would expect CJ to do better than the last few years but obviously would be tough for him to whiff 2k again.

cj is still a dangerous back. I personally thought he would of looked good in a Falcons jersey, especially when they wear the black with red helmets.

We must make sure to be disciplined on the edges because theres no doubt he will try to bounce it outside on a fair amount of his carries.

Tomlinson had an under 1,000 rushing yard season (with a 4.2 YPC average) in his best year with the Jets. He rebounded a bit with the Jets, but he was still pretty average during his tenure with the Jets. A good back, but nothing special.

Two pieces of information that have nothing to do with free agency, but don't really deserve their own thread either.

1. The Seahawks currently have a streak of 45 consecutive games without losing by more than seven points, dating back to 2011. That ties the Packers (2009-11) for the longest such streak in NFL history.

2. In week 8 this year the Lions will play the Falcons in London, with a kickoff at 9:30 am ET. That will be the earliest eastern time zone kickoff for a game in NFL history.

Interestingly the Patriots are at 40 straight with the last one by 8 points to the Steelers in 2011. You have to go back to Cleveland in 2010 for anything bigger and that was a blowout at 34-14. Of course there last two playoff losses were double digits. :(

I do not consider him a dangerous back. Once a RB loses a step..it goes downhill...fast. And he has lost that step..

I see the Jets, Dolphins and Bills as plucky AFC East competitors who will be, more than anything, an annoyance to the Patriots. In terms of NFL rankings, they all look like middle of the road, swing a game either side of .500 teams.

It's interesting that Rex looks to be going back to his initial ground and pound/heavy D based approach with Jersey. Hopefully the Patriots will field a D capable of stuffing this mentality.
