Strong Safety

would hate a DB pick but IF we have to use a 1 rounder on it, then Roby is the one i would be ok with.

Just curious why you would hate to draft a DB? To me it's still as much of a need as it was before the Revis trade. Revis may cover up the fact that we have no guarantee's in the secondary for a year but we still need talent. Browner is 30 and has been out of football for a year, Revis might be gone next year, Dennard is solid but it's tough to see how much potential he has and Ryan is coming off a solid rookie year but I think his interceptions covered up a lot of bad coverage throughout the year.

This CB class looks to be really good and I think it would be smart to grab a potential #1 CB if the opportunity presented itself in the latter half of the 1st round.

I would love a DB pick such as Calvin Pryor or, dream on, Kyle Fuller. Fuller looks like another Ty Law; tough and feisty and quick with great hands. Pryor is a hammer that would give the Patriot one of the most intimidating defensive backfields in the game.

Because the value on specialy DL/LB is better then DB. The Value on DBs are better in r2-3 or later day 3. CB may be the second best deept class this year after WR. On my top 5 board Roby is nr 1 with SJB as 2, Patriots should be able to take both in the second.

I agree with this as an ideal situation but I guess my point was if a situation came up where there was a big run on CBs in the end of the 1st round, I wouldn't be against us picking one at 29.

If there is a run on CBs at the end of the first that means that there is panic buying going on and taking a CB would be a reach out of need, we have no immediate need at CB so I wouldn't like to see a CB reached for because everybody else did.

But what if Browner isn't good? What if Dennard doesn't take the next step? These are 2 very possible situations. I think there's at least 5 who have the potential to be #1 corners so if 3 get picked from 22-28, I think they might pick one at 29 and not risk he falls to their 2nd round pick, provided they're convinced he's going to be really good.
