Thanks. Given the timing, what you reported makes more sense to me. I'm just not that thrilled the safety position comes down to Pat Chung having replace Steve Gregory. I hope more will be done to improve this situation.

Why not extend a similar courtesy to the Asians who'd find it offensive? Does it really handicap people from finding other means to type Pat Chung's name other than "Wang Chung?"

The best way I can convey the point I'm trying to make is that when I read "Wang Chung" I had absolutely ZERO thoughts of ugly Asian stereotypes come to mind. I ONLY thought of the 80s band. There are plenty of terms that are generally accepted to have ugly meanings, but there are others that are perfectly innocent depending on context. That gray area has made things complicated, setting communication snares for the unwary, and that is sad. My fear is someday I'll say something using a word that's been redefined into a slur by later generations. I dearly hope not.

I don't want to veer OT, so that's my last word.

Well I hope Wilfork's rehab is going better than Wilson's but it appears Wilfork had surgery earlier which is a good thing so keep that in mind. Tough break for Wilson but the writing was on the wall, I wonder if something else had to heal beforehand or if he had hopes that it would heal on it's own. Wilson's hope of continuing playing doesn't look good...

It wasn't grey to TommyBrady12 nor is it grey to me. If you were to ask more Asians if calling them "Wang Chung" was ok, they'd tell you the same thing. So please stop posting or rationalizing offensive slurs on Patsfans.

How did this thread materialize into a "Political Correctness" debate.......

I find the link to Wang Chung the 80's progressive pop band as similar to Pat Chung's name and merely a simple pun with no racial intent as I knew instantly what it meant......to draw a conclusion as a slur to Asian ethnicity is a bit tenuous at best and picking a fight....

FWIW its sad that Adrain Wilson didn't pan out because he was awesome at both blitzes and INT's......and was known to bring the pain.....
