Only 27 years old. He's improved in every season. Played in a run heavy offense that had a clear cut #1 WR in Steve Smith, and a running QB in Cam Newton.

Now he comes to New England. No clear cut #1. Pass heavy offense. He has the opportunity of a lifetime. Typical Patriot under the radar signing that may turn into a huge gain.

Anyone else think he can break 1000 yards this year? I have a feeling Brady will be looking his way very often.

If he's getting 1000 yards that means one of Edelman, Amendola, or Dobson is terrible.

Has better chance of making roster than chung.

:snob:

Who knows? WRs who have come here over the years have been all over the place.

But as the OP said, Lafell has alot of things going for him. He's still young, is supposedly smart, versatile, has great size, was productive in a system that did not cater to him what so ever....and is now coming to a system that will cater to him.

I doubt he will put up 1,000 yards. It is hard to do here...particularly if Dobson, Edelman, Gronk, Vereen etc. are all healthy (which is probably doubtful). But, I think he will be a solid addition that will have to be accounted for. He will make some plays for us....but won't be a go to guy. I'll say his numbers will be similiar to what they were in Carolina- only they will be more significant here, due to what we have here...if that makes sense?

600-700 yards and 5-6 touchdowns seems reasonable.

Depth and flexibility at TE and WR for them. I think they may be using him in the Hernandez role as a hybrid receiving TE but can still split him out and use him as a WR outside the hashes if they want him or need him out there. Depending upon how they use him 600-900 Yds, and 50-70 Rec, but 1st downs and TD's will be more important. The Patriots don't have one dominant WR but the overall skill sets of those they have could make them one of the best receiving corps in football if they stay somewhat healthy. Dobson, LaFell, and Gronkowski give them size and Edelman, Amendola, Boyce and Vereen give them speed and quickness so they can match up in many ways, and as long as they have Brady dictating the game and Match ups they should be one of the top 3-5 scoring offenses in football.

I think Belichick would be very happy with his career average:

15 games per season
600 yards
14+ yard per catch average

That would make him a significant and reliable contributor to the WR rotation.

I still wish we would kick the tires on Sidney Rice. Probably too late at this point with the amount of WRs we have.

I expect nothing from him. 150-200 yards? Not impressed at all with this one. Would rather just draft another WR.. at least I'd have some hope of something more then a J.A.G.

43 Catches, 550 Yards, 4 TDs

Would it be too homer-ish of me to project that LaFell, Edleman, Amendola, Dobson, Thompkins AND Boyce will all have 1,000 yard seasons?

;)

Since he's a guy who I think will actually not be riding the pine with injuries, I'd go a little higher then most with his projections....

60 catches
850 yards
10 TD's (not counting on Gronk playing 16)

Hopefully we get this guy to run some reverses too, he can make things happen.

All this assuming he doesn't have a problem learning the playbook.

Love the optimism here!!! [/sarcasm]

So despite improving every year, and now coming to a team that passes more than his previous situation.... You guys are actually predicting his numbers to decline!

I'll bookmark this and bump it in 2015 :)

All purpose? Maybe.

Receiving? Definitely lol

EDIT:

Just to see if it's reasonable with all purpose:

LaFell: 800 rec, 200 rushing (he's done some rushes)
Edleman 500 rec, 500 PR (LaFell, Dobson, and Thompkins somehow take JE and DA's spots)
Amendola 600 rec 300 rushing (end around?) 100 PR
Dobson 1000 rec
Thompkins 1000 rec (yeah yeah, I know)
Boyce 500 KR, 500 rec

That gives Brady 4400 yards without the TEs

Gronk: 800 yards (PUP half of the year, a little off his game)

5200 yards for Brady. Not totally impossible!

Brady could always have a vintage year that shuts up the "Brady is declining significantly" peoplez. However, the way I see it, it is Dobson's crew to carry as before the injury, he was decently impressive.

Edelman - 750y
LaFell - 600y
Dobson - 900y
Amendola - 600y (do not expect him to play >60% of games)
Thomkins - 500y
Boyce - 300y (I just did not see that much promise in him last season except the jukes, could be wrong)

*Assuming PUP Gronk

Not a single passing yard for the running backs?

Edit: yes, I'm busting your balls. I didn't think of Vereen

You had a perfect chance to bump Brady's numbers up to something like 5500 yards because I put it on a tee for you, but you blew it trying to bust my balls. :D

Hey, on a more serious note, how'd you get that pic from 'a' to 'b'? With the new(ish) rules for photobucket and imageshack, I'm looking for alternatives.

Don't forget Gronk2k

I predict one drop per game.
