DeSean Jackson Released by Eagles [update]: Signed by Washington

Not surprised with the contract, which isn't bad for Washington actually. It's 20% less that what he was getting in Philly. What I am surprised with is the amount that was guaranteed. My first reaction to hearing that he gets $16MM of his contract guaranteed, was shock. A bit less after I realized the 2 main teams bidding for his services where Washington and Oakland.

Still I wouldn't be surprised that when the entire contract is revealed that Washington has several clauses in there that protects them if Jackson misses meetings, is insubordinate, or arrested. As we have seen so often during this off season (and every off season for that matter), most of the time, when the "curtain is raised" on the real contract, its usually for less than originally reported.

Awful news! Who is going to stretch the field this season for the New England Patriots?!

He's a gamebreaker, him and Garcon are a nice combo, the real question mark is RGIII

That offense is going to be spastic. It'll all depend on whether guys are healthy, in the right mood, and not in trouble of some sort.

Sometimes, the little things say so much.

DeSean Jackson still angling for No. 10 with Washington Redskins - ESPN

I'm glad we didn't get this clown. He's an outsider who has alienated some teammates already just with a big contract. Now he's trying to get his number from the franchise QB. Just no perspective, totally all about ME ME ME.

I don't have a problem with a player trying to get his number. It happens a lot. I am sure Revis will try to get his number from Adrian Wilson if he makes the team.

But it is stupid for him to try to get it from the QB the team is betting the franchise on. RGIII is the guy who is supposed to be the face of the franchise for the next decade or longer.

Richard Sherman shares his thoughts on D. Jackson....

Richard Sherman: DeSean Jackson and I can't change where we're from | The MMQB with Peter King

Commit certain crimes in this league and be a certain color, and you get help, not scorn. Look at the way many in the media wrote about Jim Irsay after his DUI arrest. Nobody suggested the Colts owner had “ties” to drug trafficking, even though he was caught driving with controlled substances (prescription pills) and $29,000 in cash to do who-knows-what with. Instead, poor millionaire Mr. Irsay needs help, some wrote.

But DeSean Jackson is the menace, right? He’s just as bad as those guys he parties with because he threw up a Crip sign in a picture and he owns a gangsta rap record label. If only all record label owners were held to this standard, somebody might realize that Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg weren’t the bosses behind NWA. Jim Irsay lookalikes in suits were.

Players try to get their favorite numbers all the time. Someone just dropped $25k to get his.

From a nickel corner back, fine. From the face of the franchise?

Imagine when Adalius came to the Patriots and wanted to get Vrabel's or Bruschi's number. Wouldn't you wonder what the heck they were thinking?

The guy just got cut after a Pro Bowl season for not being a team player, talks about his contract a few days after their playoff loss, dogged it when he wasn't happy with his earlier contract, and that's what his focus is on one day after signing with a new team, and that doesn't raise a red flag?

I'm probably making more of it than I should, but I really think that this is a bit much from a guy who is quickly earning a rep as a potential locker room cancer.

No, I'd think he was going to be **** outta luck, but I wouldn't read anything into it, because I know better. We all know better.

Yeah, I know that we talked about it yesterday. I think you may have undervalued what a talent D.Jackson has been, especially coming off of an 82 catch season w/1300 yards.

I think the AAV value of 8m is directly in line with what he is worth, particularly if guys like Eric Decker are getting 7m themselves.

now that he has gone to WSH..jets fans are now saying he is overrated...huge risk ect. 2 days ago they were saying the NEED to sign him and it would put their O over the top...

Yeah I don't think RG3's sponsors would even let him give up that number. I hope D-Jax is kidding.

Well football agents know the basics -- when in doubt, call the Daniel Snyder hotline!! Snyder to the rescue with a huge contract for a troubled but talented player...

Where have we heard this story before? Oh yeah, Albert Haynesworth plus countless others! Good for the Jackson camp. They were smart and they got an owner who loves to 'make a splash' to show them the free agent $$.
