Michael Bush to visit with Patriots

He can block, pick up 3 tough yards and has decent hands for a big man. He's not your #1, but as Ridley's backup i like it a lot.

If I could have my choice between Bush or Blount at the same cheap money than Blount would be it no question mostly because he did it for us already.

Also I tend to lean toward Bush being closer to done than not but when he was a free agent 2 years ago he was coming off several seasons (each with more yards than the year before) and plenty of people on here wanted him. I actually though Chicago was a good spot for him where he wouldnt be counted on the be man and seemed to compliment Forte well but for whatever reason it didn't work out very well and he declined. I generally dont want backs in or near their 30s but at vet min why the hell not. If he gives us more of what he showed in OAK he would make the squad (and could actually be better than Blount) if not no harm.

I like Michael Bush, and I wouldn't look too hard at his YPC in Chicago since they have a terrible OL. He's not great, definitely a downgrade from Blount, but if he comes really cheap he should be fine as a backup.

Makes sense that they might not want to draft someone yet, since they're not sure which (if either) of Vereen/Ridley they'll be re-signing.

My first official post...

Guys like the thought of Bush being here. In a rotation, I think he'd do well. Vet min. with incentives on a one year deal why not kick the tires. He's played in cold weather, can catch...

Welcome To the Board!

Without a 250+ lb kick returner on the roster yet I feel naked and alone

I actually like Blount better than Bush, especially burst through line to secondary.

I really liked Bush when he was at the Univ. of Louisville. Coming out of Male High, the kid was amazing.

Bush attended Louisville Male High School where he played quarterback his senior year after seeing action at defensive back, defensive end, linebacker, running back, safety, and wide receiver over his career. As a senior, he led the Bulldogs to the state championship game in Kentucky's highest class. In a showdown with future Louisville teammate Brian Brohm and his Trinity Shamrocks, Bush threw for 468 yards and six touchdowns and ran for 116 yards and another touchdown in a 59-56 loss. He also caught two passes for 24 yards, returned a punt and a kickoff, and made five tackles on defense.[1]

That said, his NFL career didn't get off to a great start. He had some flashes, but it's been down hill from there. Don't know what happened to him, but I don't think he'd add much here.

Broken leg Senior year in college pretty much derailed his potential superstardom. He had a couple pretty good years in Oakland, but was never the same as before his injury.

Sign him on a show me deal and hope he shows something in camp.

No thanks, he's toast. I would be fine with a summer acquisition but really think they can get a good back in the draft. Andre Williams could still be around in the 3rd-4th rounds and he would be fine with me.

I like Bush would be a great replacement for Blount if he remains healthy. I really liked him coming out of Louisville

Bush is over the hill IMO

Michael Bush is done, finished, toast.

The funny thing is, everyone who is saying that "bush is done, toast" were saying similar things about blount and how the trade didnt benefit them.

look how that turned out. If Belicheck can find a way to use Bush I would think he will have a pretty solid year.

Blount was 26, and only a few years removed from a 1000 yard season. He had a high round talent value that was dropped because of his incident in college that broke up his last year there. He had all the talent in the world, the question was could he behave himself and put it all together. No one thought he was washed up, they weren't sure he was ever all that to begin with.

We know what Bush was, and we know what he is now. They're completely separate circumstances.

You guys all said the same thing about Blount last year (then changed your tune as season went on). So much hate on this board...as a fan of big backs I like this as a Blount replacement. I don't think he fit Chicago's offense but I think he would perform very similar to blount in ours. I actually liked him for us 2 or 3 years ago when he left Oakland and for cheap money I am in favor.

That isn't true.

Bush doesn't need to be better than Blount to make it worth signing him to compete with Bolden, Gray and Develin.
