DeSean Jackson Released by Eagles [update]: Signed by Washington

IDC what any ***t bag website/paper says
Until I hear the FO say they are out, I'm not buying.
BB love D-Jax coming out of college.
The Pats will due their due diligence on the guy, and put a value on him.
If that value matches Pats fans fans should be dancing in the streets when he puts pen to paper.

You don't think anything involving gangs, hip hop or thugs is ever overblown.
Have you taken your Saturday night bath yet?

The Patriot's have officially ruled out one player publicly that I can recall.

Kenny Britt.

I honestly cannot name another person the team has ruled out before a player signed somewhere else. If you're expecting it to happen, it won't.

Well, yes that is what was reported.

I'm sure your argument is more valid. Jack Dorsey was all set to offer Jackson a five year $50 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. And as they were drawing up the contracts to present them to Jackson when he comes to visit, they realized "Hey, we are up against the cap". Forget about it.

I'm sure there isn't some smoking gun like he is involved in any crime, but something was big enough to have them back off. It is probably more his attitude and work effort this past season in Philly which got him cut in the first place and why I don't want him.

Actually it was about the the relationship between Reid and D-Jax.
Reid loves the guy, and is on on record as saying so. I believe Reid thought he could convince D-Jax to come to KC on a short term deal, for low cash. When that didn't work out....well...the Chiefs are out! And you read anything into that ****?! Lol!

I don't expect anything, but for you know it alls to think you are in the know is laughable.
Your opinion carries no more weight than mine.

LOL! I bet that value is the veteran minimum with no guaranteed money.

Who said Belichick loved Jackson coming out of college? I can't remember ever hearing that. Jackson was always a showboater who was so intent on doing a cartwheel into the endzone that he cost Cal a TD because he dropped the ball before he crossed the goal line. Belichick hates players like that.

And he certainly doesn't like the player he has become. Constantly complaining about money and blowing off team meetings to hang with friends. He is the antithesis of a Belichick player.

Reid vouched for the guy at the team meeting. Reid is the type of guy who vouches for everyone though. Reid also suspended Jackson when Reid was the head coach of the Eagles.

By your claims, everyone loves Jackson yet he is without a job. He is a lazy malcontent. I am not as concerned about the gang stuff as the other stuff that makes him an Anti-Patriot. If he came to the Patriots, it would only be a matter of time before he was doing an Adalius Thomas type of locker room interview for complaining about being suspended for missing team meetings.

Maybe do a little research on that draft... Cause, yeah "your" HC liked him. Its not a secret.

I don't think it's overblown at all. The Eagles dropped him like a hot potato when he could help them on the field and without significant benefit to their cap. It wasn't the whole reason, but I'm sure a major part of it.

The "gang stuff" has been known for years.

And, he progressively has gone deeper into it. Don't dismiss the prospect that new information recently has surfaced.

Put up or shut up. Provide the evidence. The burden of proof is on you.

It should be easy to find. Belichick is so open about draft prospects he loves and wanted to draft. I am sure there are fifty or sixty articles with direct quotes from Belichick on the matter.

I did a Google search of different combinations of Belichick, Desean Jackson, 2008, and draft and found nothing.

Fact of the matter is there is a lot of speculation on who Belchick loved in a given draft, but very few are confirmed. Many are the farthest from the truth. It wasn't in either Michael Holley book as far as I can remember and that has been the only place where I have seen strong evidence of who Belichick liked or didn't like.

Even if he loved Jackson coming out of college, he certainly doesn't now. Jackson has shown to be the exact opposite type of player than Belichick wants in this organization. And he respects the hell out of Chip Kelly and if Kelly doesn't want to put up with Jackson's BS, then Belichick will want no part of him.

And, he progressively has gone deeper into it. Don't dismiss the prospect that new information recently has surfaced.

I'm not dismissing anything, but the most likely answer is very simple:

Chip Kelly is not Andy Reid, and he prefers a different kind of receiver. Reports are that Kelly and Jackson didn't get along well. Kelly is early in his tenure, but coming off of a successful rookie season, so he's got pull. Lurie's always been a bit of a "character" obsessed guy, while Reid was much more likely to be ok with the non-choir boy. DeSean wanted a new deal because he wasn't going to be getting any more guaranteed money after this year.

Buh Bye, DeSean.

Okie dokie. You, and Tunescribe are on record that he is nothing more than a "gang banging" thug with a me first attitude.
That's fine. Rock that belief while you can. I think otherwise, and feel you guys are missing the boat.

I never said that he was a gang banger. I have always said that even without those allegations, the guy has a ton of red flags. The guy is a locker room problem just like Adalius Thomas and Shawn Springs were (and they weren't gang bangers). He is not a Patriots type of player and I think he is a bad scheme fit.

Unfortunately for you, the Pats agree with our beliefs more than yours. Whether we are missing the boat or not, we are realistic about Jackson's chances of becoming a Patriot.

Jackson is most likely going to be a Redskin. Players usually go to the team they are most likely to sign for with their first visit and Daniel Snyder has never met a shiny new toy he wasn't interested in throwing money at.

He may, or may not be a part of the future...
You really have the authority to say the Pats are "out" of the running?

No one knows for sure, but it has been reported they are out and every reporter in this town say it isn't happening.

It is also out of character for the Pats to pay big money for a free agent that isn't theirs. And Revis is the exception because he is an once in a generation talent. Jackson is not.

And the fact he was cut because he couldn't get along with Chip Kelly tells me that Belichick will want nothing to do with him either.

I called it that the Pats would sign Revis long before he did. I also called it that the Pats wouldn't sign Jackson long before he was cut. I was right with the first one and I will probably be right with the second.

Report: LAPD Has Linked Two Murders to Gang Associates of DeSean Jackson | Crossing Broad

Eliot is reporting that twice since 2010, the LAPD has talked to DeSean Jackson about gang related murders. Jackson was not a suspect in either case, but one murder was by a Jaccpot (Jackson’s record label) rapper and the other took place at a house “owned or leased by a member of Jackson’s family.”

Sources told Eliot that the Eagles were concerned over Jackson missing meetings, his work ethic and chemistry with teammates. When they looked into those things, that’s when they discovered some troubling connections:

Acting on unspecified information that Jackson might have knowledge of Shakir’s activities on the night of Watson’s murder, LAPD detective Eric Crosson said he interviewed Jackson on the phone in late 2011. Crosson wouldn’t reveal details of that conversation, but he described Jackson as “cooperative at the time.”

Crosson also told NJ.com that he reached out to the Eagles by phone in early 2011 — even before he interviewed Jackson — as a courtesy to alert them to Jackson’s connection to an alleged killer. He never received a response from the team, he said.

The following year, the Eagles signed Jackson to a five-year, $48.5 million contract extension.

When contacted by NJ.com on Wednesday, the Eagles issued a statement that they “no comment at this time,” and team officials would neither confirm nor deny whether anyone in the front office had spoken to Crosson about Jackson’s ties to a homicide suspect. On Thursday, a source in the organization said current front-office members had been unaware of Jackson’s links to an alleged killer.

A second murder:

A little over a year after the rising NFL star was interviewed by police about his connection to Shakir, Jackson’s name once again made its way onto the desk of Detective Crosson.

This time, Jackson’s name surfaced as part of an investigation into a 2012 gang-related murder that occurred outside a South Los Angeles business where a party had taken place. The building was owned or leased by a member of Jackson’s family, police said.

During a search of the building, Crosson told NJ.com investigators found several documents belonging to Jackson, including a car title, a gun permit issued in New Jersey and credit-card receipts.

After discovering the documents, Crosson said he made multiple attempts to contact Jackson by phone, but never was able to connect with the wide receiver. Crosson added that Jackson was never considered a suspect in the crime.

Crosson went on to talk about how Jackson routinely throws up gang signs and described how the two C’s in Jaccpot was to avoid “CK,” which stands for Crip Killer.

While I agree he will not ultimately end up a Patriot I believe the teams interest in the player was a hell of a lot higher than most here would give credit to.
Risk vs. Reward. The infinite question.
Although the risk along with the final price tag will come at a much higher price than the Pats were willing to spend.
I hate seeing D-Jax walk to another team that is not mine. I believe the man IS a top 5 WR in this league. But hey, WTF do I know.

I don't think the Pats were ever interest in Jackson. I think their name was thrown out there by the Eagles to generate trade interest because the Patriots' name is always thrown out there as potential trade partners because they refuse to comment either way.

I think Belichick hates the type of player Jackson is. Maybe not his talent, but his demeanor on and off the field (and again, I am not talking the gang stuff). Belichick doesn't want a guy like him influencing the younger players on the team and make it look ok to blow of meetings and showboat on the field.

So...how many convictions came out of that mess?
Actually just show me proof of a charge.
You guys really are sickening.

And this was all known by the Eagles
And Jackson has been specifically cleared

Hell, it's right in the quote. First one:

Crosson also told NJ.com that he reached out to the Eagles by phone in early 2011 — even before he interviewed Jackson — as a courtesy to alert them to Jackson’s connection to an alleged killer. He never received a response from the team, he said.

The following year, the Eagles signed Jackson to a five-year, $48.5 million contract extension.

Second one:

2012 ...Jackson was never considered a suspect in the crime.
