DeSean Jackson Released by Eagles [update]: Signed by Washington

@RapSheet: #Chiefs were among those who did research on DeSean Jackson, as did plenty of others. Source says they are now OUT. He’ll visit Skins Monday

Chiefs & Jets out. No word still on Pats.

Revis was being overpaid at 16mil. If a team traded for Jackson, the cap hit would have been 10 mil. That's not bad for a deep threat with his talent. If he wasn't such a dink, I would have expected the Eagles to get at least a 2nd.

If Jackson is worth 10, Revis is definitely worth 16

Not good for Desean if the Chiefs are out. Probably a foregone conclusion that he's going to the Raiders at this point, with the Redskins maybe having an outside shot.

I don't think the pats were ever really in on it to start with, Jackson is not a one year 6 million WR he will still get a multi year contract for 8 million plus from some team

TBH, I see the Raiders as the best fit for Jackson. Given his links to Oakland and assuming the Patriots aren't a serious player for his services, I'd like to see him end up there.

I'm not sure I would sign the rumored Crip to a contract if I was a team based in Oakland, CA. The Crips a larger on the west coast so being in Philadelphia probably kept him clear of his boyz...

I would guess that had Hernandez ended up on GB or someplace like that the temptation to thug out wouldn't have been as great as it was with him playing so close to his hometown. I could be wrong but it's just a thought.

The fact that Andy Reid and the Chiefs are bailing on signing Jackson after a background check is pretty damning on what they found. Reid was all for signing him 24 hours ago. He personally vouched for him a few days ago.

And he is never going to be a Patriot. No offense, but people need to stop living this fantasy. Kraft doesn't want another player with potential gang ties and Belichick doesn't want another player who is known to be lazy and blow off team meetings.

Or maybe Reid realizes that the minimal cap space available to him is not enough. So why not make it look like the guy who drafted him into the league is dropping out of the running in hopes it sends "red flags" to other teams interested to the point of driving down price.

All I said is we haven't been ruled out yet. Just delivering news. Maybe Kraft will rule out Jackson like he ruled out Britt soon.

I sincerely doubt the Raiders or Jackson care. IMO, this whole gang thing is being incredibly overblown.

Krafty knows more than any of us could hope to know about D-Jax.
What he, and BB decide on the matter is fine by me.

But Rappaport said that they chose to stop pursuing him after they did a background check. Not after they looked at their cap figure.

I don't think it's overblown at all. The Eagles dropped him like a hot potato when he could help them on the field and without significant benefit to their cap. It wasn't the whole reason, but I'm sure a major part of it.

Lol! Yeah. That's exactly what it is...LOL!

I think Britt was ruled out because he is a broken player. I think people are reading too much into Kraft's comments. I don't think he ruled out Britt too soon. The fact they even met with Britt can make the argument that they took signing him too seriously.

That guy basically visited every team in the league trying to get them to sign him and he is still sitting out there in free agency.

NJ.com ruled the Patriots out officially.

Well, yes that is what was reported.

I'm sure your argument is more valid. Jack Dorsey was all set to offer Jackson a five year $50 million contract with $20 million guaranteed. And as they were drawing up the contracts to present them to Jackson when he comes to visit, they realized "Hey, we are up against the cap". Forget about it.

I'm sure there isn't some smoking gun like he is involved in any crime, but something was big enough to have them back off. It is probably more his attitude and work effort this past season in Philly which got him cut in the first place and why I don't want him.

IDC what any ***t bag website/paper says
Until I hear the FO say they are out, I'm not buying.
BB love D-Jax coming out of college.
The Pats will due their due diligence on the guy, and put a value on him.
If that value matches Pats fans fans should be dancing in the streets when he puts pen to paper.

You don't think anything involving gangs, hip hop or thugs is ever overblown.
