DeSean Jackson Released by Eagles [update]: Signed by Washington

Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 2m
And now up to 6 teams already calling on DeSean Jackson. And counting.

Odds are we called.

apparently Desean is vehemently denying any gang involvement and according to schefter 4 teams have already been in contact with his agent.

Pretty hard to credibly deny gang involvement when you've been known to flash crip signs on national TV. I don't for a second buy that he's never been affiliated with a gang. I also don't particularly care if he has been, provided that it's not an ongoing part of his life.

BB: "Chip...i would like djax...i'll hook up before I retire"
CK: "how can we work out a trade?? i need at least a 3rd"
BB: "just release him"
CK: "..no way you can bid enough to win him in FA".
BB: "dont worry about that..."

fast forward to 3/28

CK: "...released. but when did djax get involved in gangs?"
BB: "...dont worry about that..."

:p

I think that's where most of us are, even the ones that are apprehensive until the full details are available. I will admit that if the Pats did sign him, my nipples would instantly become hard.

Only your nipples? :p

A poor route running straight line WR would thrive on a team that requires great route running, presnap reads (which I am unsure he can read defenses and make adjustments based on his play thus far) and a more short to intermediate offense?
I have always believed that poor route running was a function of bad coaching. Randy Moss had a lot of the same (perceived) negatives when he came here; i.e. all he did was go deep.
I see Jackson as a bad fit for this offense.
Taking one of the biggest deep threats in the league and combining it with the greatest QB of all time? Yeah, that's a horrible situation.... :bricks:

Good point. I'm sure the Eagles cut a 1,300 yard receiver and are carring 6M in dead cap based on speculation.

Sarcastic as hell, but none-the-less, a good point Cousin.
I would rather take a chance with a kid like Justin Blackmon who is being treated for a Disease with the bottle and is pledging to turn his life around. Cris Carter did it and became a H.O.F. player but he had people kick his ass along the way.

Like A.H., if the gangs have you, you are not getting out.

I'd love to have him here but what you said Jack makes chilling sense.

After the A.H. tragedy and if Kraft puts his foot down on Britt who is just a knucklehead and murders are not mentioned in the same sentence as they are Jackson, no way RK signs off on this kid.

A.H. and Jackson are perfect examples of how the NFL life entitled them with money and fame and enforced their belief that their station in life can get them out of felonious situations.

They are such dumb asses as well that they they do not know these gangs are using them as bobbles for added credibility in recruiting members. These stupid athletes don't realize they are a meal ticket for those "upper management" gang leaders who I am sure, have their hands out.

They Eagles are not a stupid organization. They are running from this kid like their hair was on fire. Much more is known by them that does not get reported.

I'm having a difficult time seeing how that's not a 'fit' on the field.

6 out of 32 teams have called. Odds (81%) are that we didn't call.
I was thinking a similar thing, only I saw it as 6 of 31 (I highly doubt the Eagles called to inquire about a player they just released).

However, let's face it..... there are only a handful of teams that are known to have been interested. I realize there may be a dark horse or two in those 6 teams, but that still, that does make it quite possible the Pats are involved.

I wouldn’t sign that douche even if had no such connections. The guy is a serious douchebag, and just rubs off the wrong way AFAIAC.

Highly doubt we're involved. DJAX signing with us has the same chance as the Prisoner resigning...

First, deep threats are overrated. Brady isn't going to get a deep threat and start hucking it down the field. Contrary to popular belief, Moss wasn't just running go routes. That isn't his game and it isn't utilizing his skills most effectively. Get a deep threat who can play 10 plays a game and that is enough. Brady is a surgeon, not gun slinger. He's not Brett Favre. And at 38 years old, you really don't want to make Brady into more of a gun slinger where he has one of his main targets on the field only running go routes.

Route running CAN BE a function of bad coaching. Most of the time, it is a function of player being incapable of running routes cleanly. There are a lot of bad route running WRs in this league and some of them are on very well coached teams.

He's not a gang member. Nah, just gives gang member signs, hangs out with gang members, starts a rap recording company to further hang out with the criminal class....nothing to see here. Probably wanted more money to sink into his "recording biz".

This is going to be an interesting period. How long do you think before he signs somewhere?

Honestly, I think the fact that none of his teammates seem to give a crap that he was cut is more of a concern than the purported gang affiliations.

Wouldn't touch him w/a twenty foot pole. The Hernandez situation should be absolutely burned in our memory.
