It took them 35 minutes after this story was released:
DeSean Jackson's gang connections troubling to Eagles | NJ.com
Yet the Eagles' apparent interest in jettisoning Jackson likely has little to do with his performance on the field or a big-money contract that could squeeze the team's salary cap. Rather, sources close to Jackson and within the Eagles' organization say, it's Jackson's off-field behavior that concerns the front office. A bad attitude, an inconsistent work ethic, missed meetings and a lack of chemistry with head coach Chip Kelly are the reasons, sources told NJ.com. And when the Eagles looked more deeply into why Jackson was missing meetings, they found that his friends were becoming a more powerful -- and negative -- influence in his life.

Now the Eagles have even more serious concerns -- Jackson's continued association with reputed Los Angeles street gang members who have been connected to two homicides since 2010.

After careful consideration this offseason, Eagles decide to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today.

Well there it is.

Please let there be no sign Desean Jackson threads!! His connection to gang members and homicides is NOT a thing I want associated with the Pats. Especially after the Hernandez fiasco, that is the LAST thing we want on our team!!

Frightening stuff. I didn't realize it was this bad. Knowing the above, if true, I don't think the Patriots should touch him with a 10 foot pole.

Was all for signing him until the part where it mentioned his "friends" becoming more influential and gang links. No team should want a part of that but you know the Rats will be all in on him.

The Newark Star-Ledger reports DeSean Jackson's off-field behavior, particularly his connection to a Los Angeles street gang, is the Eagles' chief concern and main reason they're entertaining trading or releasing him

I think Eagles saw the fiasco with AHern-Patriots, and probably don't want something like that in Philly...

A team would be foolish if they invest long term on someone like that..

Eagles lower cap but carry $6M in dead money to not have him around. Pretty strong message there.

The Eagles will carry $6 million in dead money after releasing DeSean Jackson. Saves them $6.75 million in cap space for 2014.

That article seems completely speculative and with little basis. I'd love seeing him here catching passes from TB12. Plenty of ways to structure the deal so that the pats are protected. We have taken on guys with worse backgrounds. I just hope he's done doing cartwheels into the endzone.

good god i hope he goes to the jets for lots of $$...jets fans already dismissing his gang ties

While I don't think he will be out of the league, it will hurt his pockets. Gotta be smarter, as the pouncey's learned with their connections to AH. Gotta play the game.

Apart from the photos of him throwing gang signs or hanging with members of the Crips? No basis at all there...

Pretty sure the gang connection thing makes this a guaranteed "not going to happen."

Well then I guess Jets will sign in within 24 hrs.

Wonder how many people he has killed already.

Sign the beast!

Lol.

Good point. I'm sure the Eagles cut a 1,300 yard receiver and are carring 6M in dead cap based on speculation.
